Conveniently forgotten when Sunderland have won, dredged up when
they lose.
If, and I havent seen any of it yet, Darren had a "poor" game it
was due to his decision making on the day and nothing to do with
some tenuous link to Newcstle.

Having seen highlights I can see why Sunderland fans would be
aggrieved. Definite missed "head butt", decent shout for penalty
for handball and potential push on Charlton goal.
My other observation would be that despite previous hassles Mr
Drysdale does not appear to have temprered his body language or
facial expressions - the penalty he waved away did so in quite a
flamboyant/OTT manner and the way he confronted the player who
attempted to handle the ball on the goal looked very aggressive.

At least the headbutt wasn't initiated by DD ;)

Also confronted others in that manner, messed up the kick off
and foul detection wasn’t great, gooch doesn’t want to be hugged
when goalside.

He couldn't even get the kick off right. Went through his
routine of over the top hand gestures, seemingly waving to
everybody bar the staff in the food kiosks then blew his
whistle. As the ball was kicked some of the players went to take
the knee. It was an absolute farce.

All I have seen of the match was the EFL on Quest highlights and
for me the telling off/altercation with O’Nien seemed rather
unnecessarily aggressive to me - if he handles it and it goes
in, give the goal, if not then send him off - no need to tell
him off for me!

In actual fact - if he handles it in an attempt to stop a goal
and is not successful, the correct outcome in law is a mandatory
caution.
In going in and having a pop at the player, unfortunately the
referee has highlighted that he has seen the handball offence
and failed to apply law correctly.

Well spotted! I thought that had be retracted in recent years
but I was wrong.
The only mitigation would be if the ball was already over the
line?

the line. Mr Drysdale certainly took an aggressive approach.
Shame he hadn't been so keen to clamp down on a few other
incidents.

Having viewed this on the FL highlights show, to call this a
headbutt is a stretch at the very least!
If you search "Lee Johnson headbutt" on Twitter you will see
that even most Sunderland fans recognise his protests as a
tactic by the manager to deflect any blame for the defeat away
from himself.
