       League One and Two refs

May I ask a polite question.
Does anyone actually MONITOR the performances at games where
       they officiate ?
Is there an assessor in the stand at every fixture ?

       Every match has an Observer.
Jeff Ward was the Observer at Rochdale v Sutton today, while
Mike Jones was listed as the Coach.
Someone else will know if they are actually at the ground.

Every Football League and National League Premier Division game
has an observer there in person. Premier League and
Championship don't and rather have match officials performance
       evaluated using the match video.

I’m guessing the Sunderland game today is the reason for the
       question

What’s the rules in these leagues on who can referee rivals
       games?

Yes but as I am at home and missed the game due to a nasty chest
infection I cannot comment one way or another on Darren
       Drysdale's performance.
The reason for my post is to answer a " debate" on social media.

I did read on one social media post that Darren Drysdale was
       from Newcastle.
Obviously I knew this not to be true [ and even if it was I
cannot see the relevance] but it is maybe what is being asked.

I spoke to him once and he's definitely a Geordie.
He was also a Geordie on all the other occasions he has refereed
Sunderland which, going off Soccerbase, seems to include six
       consecutive unbeaten matches!

He apparently grew up in stakeford and I’ve seen people claim he
was a Newcastle fan then others state at this level it doesn’t
matter, I’m guessing there is rules against it.
In general not saying he is a Newcastle fan or that it had any
impact even though he had a shocking game.
