Stuart Attwell - Brighton v Leicester

Haven't watched the whole game but three crucial decisions all
co-made by Attwell and AR1 Dan Cook were a bit controversial:
Penalty for Brighton and two disallowed equalizers from
Leicester for offside, all of which were confirmed by VAR.
The handball player Vestergaard was off balance but his hand was
still in an unnatural position so the penalty was supportable.
The first disallowed goal was a bit harsh but for me still
supportable. However, the second one IMO was wrong: The header
by Ndidi came so quickly and Barnes had no attempt to play plus
there was no obstructing vision, so it was unbelievable to
disallow the goal for offside. Leicester fans that I know were
furious at the referee today. Looking for further information.

I agree as I think Vestegaard is being pulled so has to put his
arm up, but it is an unnatural position. Both offside goals
looked tight, but the second one I think is completely wrong so
don’t know why VAR didn’t have a look properly

Having now seen these incidents on MOTD 2, I agree with both
Critics and ajb95; both the penalty and the second disallowed
goal were dubious, and probably erroneous decisions. What has
not been mentioned however, either here or on MOTD2, is the
behaviour of Schmeichel and several other Leicester defenders
following the award of the penalty. As captain, Schmeichel can
be excused for having a word or two with the referee on the
subject, but several minutes of continuing petulant dissent went
well beyond this, and were clearly designed to delay the taking
of the penalty. Which begs the question as to why at no time did
Stuart Attwell seem on the point of showing a YC to any of the
culprits? One would have thought that these antics might have
ceased rather more quickly had he done so.

I think that, taken as a whole, the match events merely confirm
what many people have thought for a long time. Attwell is not
up to being a Premier League referee. Decision making,
management and player rapport are sadly lacking.
