Simon Hooper Southampton vs Watford

According to SSN Simon Hooper missed a blatant Watford Penalty
and also incorrectly disallowed a Southampton goal but for the
latter again according to SSN he was using comms so the AR
probably intervened but apparently Hooper was well placed to use
his own judgement
If the highlights on MOTD back the above up then it seems on the
rare occasions Hooper gets PL middle he gets KMI wrong

Been totally slated on BBC s Final Score which included a very
angry interview with Charlie Austin.
More fuel for those of us, myself included, who were amazed when
he was promoted to the PL

First of all the comments by Austin are a disgrace and he should
have the book thrown at him! Obviously what Mark Hughes said you
wouldn’t expect anything different from him.
All I can say is that it’s a terrible decision. First by AR
Lennard and then Hooper who has a clear view of the incident-
baffling!
What gets me miffed as well with the post match reactions From
saints personnel is that at 1-0 Watford are denied a clear
penalty which could have been a red card as well. So to say they
would have won 2-0 is totally incorrect!
We won’t be seeing much of Hooper if he carries on in this vein!

I've not seen the said incidents yet so can't pass judgement.
However I will pass judgement that promoting Hooper was a
garbage decision. If Riley and the clowns at PGMOL think he is
what's required and SG1 material then it makes the bizarre and
ridiculous decision they took in not promoting Madley even more
baffling.

I watched BT Sport Score this afternoon and the panel were split
down the middle on the Southampton goal decision - Dean Saunders
and John Hartson both thought where the player was could
influence the keeper therefore he was interfering - Robbie
Savage and Tim Sherwood thought it should have stood. Now, I've
not seen it but generally when you have four players who
completely disagree with each other it generally means it was a
very tough call. They were all in agreement about the Watford
penalty though as was Peter Walton. I wasn't paying 100%
attention all afternoon so missed it if Peter Walton expressed a
view on the disallowed goal.

Having seen various angles on MOTD nothing tough about it they
should have got it correct imo Harry Lennard has guessed Hooper
clearly seen pointing to his earpiece making it clear he got
feedback

I agree with everything you say after the opening sentence but
the comment about Charlie Austin being a disgrace who should
have the book thrown at him had me wondering if you are a Pompey
fan. Apologies of you aren't but they interviewed him straight
after the game when emotions were still raw and he had every
right to be angry. Lets be honest he wasn't exactly spreading
fake news because between them the officials had an absolute
shocker.

Harry Lennard again ???
Perhaps Hooper was pointing to his head to indicate that he
thought that the ball hit the non-involved player on the head?

I don't have a problem with the assistant notifying Hooper that
the player was in an offside position but I do think the wrong
decision was reached - Hooper was probably in the best place to
make the correct call.
I can vaguely see how they came to the decision they did but
you'd hope for better at the top level.
Clear penalty missed too.

Unless they thought the Southampton player headed the ball on
the way throuhg (althoguh the referee could see that it didn't)
then this was similar to one of the examples they provided as to
what constitues interefering. The example being Rooney against
Burton (I think) in the FA Cup where the ball passes by him but
he makes no movement to play the ball and in actual fact moves
his body out of the way of the ball to make sure it doesn't hit
him - they decided that should have been offside.
