Anthony Taylor - Kiev v Benfica

A rare mistake from Anthony Taylor tonight…. He sent off Dynamo
Kyiv midfielder Denys Garmash for a second yellow card but, he
hadn't been booked a first time ... At least he realised his
mistake in time. I am sure VAR would have been in his ear
anyways.

A rare mistake. This has been coming for some time. Very
overrated by Eufa. Personally I don’t think he is in our top 3
refs in the PL. I can remember when our refs were top of the
tree in Europe. Not now. Michael Oliver is probably the only
one we have that is decent . None that our outstanding.

Wouldn’t have happened at all if he’d given the free kick for
the blatant shove in the back!

agreed! he looked like he was about to give it then waved it
away, which then led to a retaliation which led to the mistake

Reports that Pawson bailed him out. Good spot if that is the
case to catch it before VAR had to intervene. I know some will
say that’s his job but as we’ve seen a number of times before it
is easily missed!
Hope that doesn’t have too much of an affect on his season -
these things occasionally happen to anyone and in this case
nothing came of it. It isn’t a sign, to me at least, of a
systematic flaw in your game. A bit like Marriner with the Gibbs
incident, likely it will never happen to him again!

Wouldn't have happened if he had followed the procedure that
those of us at lower levels are required to follow when
cautioning players.

Wouldn't have happened if the PGMOL used some common sense with
appointments. Weekend matches in the UK and mid week matches
abroad somewhere is going to take it's toll. The PGMOL have to
start giving these guys every other weekend off if they have
games in Europe on consecutive weeks.

I suppose better than a Poll situation in that players are
always going to protest being sent off for one card, but they're
not going to tell you if you give them two and don't send them
off!
