       C PAWSON - Leeds v Liverpool

Doesn’t look good at all for one of our former players Harvey
Elliot. A cracking lad and let’s hope it’s not serious.
The red card for Struik afterwards can’t be looked at by
outsiders due to the nature of the injury. We can only assume
VAR and Pawson have it correct.
Edit - Pawson was going to show red anyway.

I didnt think he even given a foul and stopped play until all
       the physios ran on.
As you say we havent seen replays but judging by Gary Neville
who is reasonable in his assesments reckons it was sent off
because of the outcome rather than the tackle.
Live I saw nothing untoward, so not cirticising.

I wonder if, as VAR did not intervene, fourth official Madley
called the red as Pawson was (correctly positioned) on the wrong
       side to see it.
From the close ups I've seen on twitter the red card is
deserved. Given the current laws with respect to intent not
being a big consideration I think more times that not when you
cause an injury like that you will get a red card.

Thing is.. if he's gone in and broken somone's leg in a tackle
(as opposed to the opponent falling awkwardly etc) then by the
LOTG definition, he has played in a dangerous manner/likely* to
       endanger an opponent.
*in this case, "did" endanger the opponent resulting in a broken
       leg.
That said, I have not seen the incident in question (had left
the room for a moment) and have no desire to do so.

Any tackle where you reach the player's leg before the floor is
extremely dangerous, and should always be punished with a red
card in my opinion (injuries to Torreira and Fofana as other
examples). Unfortunately in this scene, we reached the worst
       case scenario.

I was at the game and we'll positioned. It looked a good tackle,
no whistle game continued with Leeds on the attack. Whistle
went after the Liverpool physios raced on the pitch without
permission. Seen a replay and can't see a foul. Hope the
Liverpool player is being looked after.

       It is 100% a foul, Struijk's trailing leg hit's Elliot's
standing leg and breaks either the leg or possibly the ankle.

Terrible challenge. Should have been picked up at the time, but
good use of VAR. Craig will be disappointed. Hopefully a long
ban. Hopefully a good recovery for the young lad!

Well that is the interesting part no OFR so one of the on field
officials must have picked it up. Sky said Pawson was always
going to go red (I took that to mean he was advised by someone
other than VAR as he didn't seem to recognise it himself) so I
wonder why the delay. I'd love to hear the conversation between
       the officials.
Thought he had a very good game before and after that incident,
like you saw I'm sure he will be disappointed not to have seen
it himself live. Guess that is what the team is there for
       though!

The situation reminded me of the horrible injury to Eduardo when
the card shark Dean sent off Martin Taylor after seeing the
       broken leg.
I’ve just seen the tackle and it’s a dreadful challenge.
