Dean Whitestone Huddersfield v Fulham

A total car crash for Whitestone and his team, that left both
sets of fans unhappy, with total inconsistencies. Technical
infringements penalised with cards, a lot of tough tackling
(mostly from Fulham) was allowed and rough hand tactics (mostly
from Huddersfield e.g. late tackles, forearm smashes) penalised
only with free kicks. The epicentre of the car crash was when
Harry Wilson was scythed down from behind, and as he fell seemed
to catch the perpetrator, who then threw himself to the ground
to join Wilson. This resulted in a free-kick for Fulham, a red
card for Wilson and no punishment for the Huddersfield player.
Can anyone explain? Surely this red card will be rescinded upon
appeal? Otherwise, it was a totally dominant performance for
Fulham and a shocker for the Huddersfield keeper, which started
with saving a corner at an expense of a goal.

One of the worst refereeing performances I’ve seen in many a
game from Whitestone.
Many have said he was deservedly promoted and that he would do
well.
I hope this game was a one off as he and his assistants were
appallingly bad this afternoon.
M’learned friend above has mentioned all the beefs with the
match itself.
The red deserves to be rescinded, however given the incompetence
in the committee who reviews these appeals, I wouldn’t bank on
it.

Having seen it I agree the Huddersfield player should have (at
least) been cautioned. However, the Fulham player did kick
out/propel legs towards opponent as he went down. I cannot see
clear evidence that is was not a red, so very unlikely to be
rescinded

Indeed. I can't see Fulham wasting the money on an appeal.
By far and away the biggest error was made by the Assistant who
failed to spot the ball was at least 2 foot out of play for a
corner. The next biggest mistake was made by the goalkeeper half
a second later leading to the opening goal.

I must be the only one who thinks that Dean's performance,
though not one of his best was certainly not as bad as portrayed
as those comments above. Red card was, cautions were correct.
Linesman fault for the corner ( not his). I think he is a very
decent ref who just didn't have his best day and we have all had
those.

I agree with Levref. I’m certainly of a different opinion than
my two fellow Fulham fans above. Dean did irritate both sets of
fans, that’s true, but he’s a ref that likes to let the game
flow, and we all know what us fans are like when free kicks
don’t get given for what we perceive to be fouls.
The assistant referee let him down for Fulham’s first goal, no
doubt, the keeper was virtually in the front row of the crowd
when he cleared it! But there was also a brilliant decision from
the other lino to disallow a Huddersfield goal. Spot on.
As for the red, that was correct. If there was any doubt then
Fulham would’ve appealed, and they haven’t. I’m not sure why my
fellow Fulhamites were so convinced it would be rescinded. He
lashed out. Easy red.
Whitestone wasn’t brilliant, but more than acceptable. No real
complaints from me.

I presume the lack of appeal from Fulham says it all, clearly
they saw something that the AR/4O saw and relayed to Whitestone.
That aside it doesn't excuse the calamity for Fulham's first
goal, the lack of YC for the foul which led to Wilson being
sent-off and the 'forearm smash' tactics by Huddersfield players
on Carvalho. I'm waiting for someone to start a thread on Tim
Robinson :/
