A huge talking point in the refereeing world is wether Bjorn
Kuipers, who is 48 years old, will retire after the Euro final.
In a press conference today he said: "I'm not ready to quit just
       yet".
"The rest of my refereeing team, Team Kuipers, asked me to
       continue".
"I've read the rumours about his possible retirement, but I am
not going to make the decision yet. I am also not alone, I also
have to speak with my family at home. I have been whistling for
over twelve years and I am away a lot: that affects them too, so
I also have to consult with them".

Apparently he is now ready to retire, according to the KNVB
(Dutch FA) he will retire after refereeing the upcoming Johan
Cruijff Schaal a.k.a the Dutch Super Cup game between Ajax and
       PSV on August 7th.
He was quoted saying "I'm at the top of my career, there is no
better moment to stop than this, after the final of a major
competition. I will however surely remain in the world of
refereeing, in another capacity either at a national or
       international level"

Kuipers assistants have shared a great journey with him. What
happens to them now as I suspect both are not retiring age yet?
Will they possibly get teamed with an up and coming Ditch ref as
       their experience would be priceless?

Plenty of ditches in Holland; they should be able to find one to
       team up with. :)

Be nice to see them paired up with a youngster who they could
help develop. Tóth has barely been used since Kassai/Ring
retired. He and Albert István get the occasional game with one
of the youngsters but that is all and it's such a waste. They
are the 2 top ARs in Hungary & not utilised. Albert never gets
games because Vad is always injured. I hope the KNVB do better
by them and use them regularly.

A nice video of Bjorn talking through some photos of key moments
from his career - it's in Dutch but if you use the translate
option under Settings you will get a reasonable translation
(plus he lapses into English now and then)
He comes across very well and has clearly had a brilliant career
