       Peter Wright, Crewe v Grimsby

A 'newbie' for me to see last Saturday and the first time (I
believe) that Peter Wright has been discussed since he came on
       to the FL.
A tall man, and looking a bit like David Coote, Peter quickly
gave the impression that he wanted to adopt a hands-off approach
to his refereeing, and this was not difficult in a first half
that lacked any form of drama, with no cards, no added time and
just one dubious tackle which Peter ignored. It was more like a
PSF than a competitive match in L2. The second half started in
much the same way and it said a lot for the quality of the game
that the Crewe manager only got hot under the collar when a
throw in was given to Grimsby rather than Crewe in midfield. As
the chap behind me commented dryly, 'keep calm David, it's only
a throw'. This was then followed by the most outrageous foul
throw which Peter and his AR fortunately picked up on. Such was
       the excitement!
Fortunately Crewe enlivened the proceedings by scoring a great
goal quickly followed by another, to which Grimsby never looked
       like responding.
Quiet, unhurried, almost studious, that is how I would describe
Peter Wright's refereeing and fortunately in this match it
worked. He will no doubt have greater challenges in the future,
but I think he can be pleased with his afternoon's work, aided
in no small way by two decent ARs. Now for Mr Sarginson tomorrow
       night :)

I have heard good things to date about Mr Wright, and I hope he
       continues to develop and progress.
Myself and PlymNick have strong views on Mr Sarginson and have
been discussed on this forum a number of times. However, I will
never criticise any official's integrity and intentions, because
they are trying there best and are the one's who have progressed
to such a level that they are officiating. I hope you have an
       enjoyable evening, however.

Mr Wright wasn’t a favourite during his NL days at Tranmere. Bit
surprised about the comments about his stature though, I’d
always clocked him as about average height and fairly youthful
in appearance. Mr Sarginson stature wise is one of the giants.

And he looks nothing like David Coote!

My senior eyes must have been deceiving me. Mr Wright was
certainly tall in comparison with AR Abbas Khan, and as for
looking like David Coote....? 'Nuf said ;D

I've just had to get some new glasses. I could have got another
       pair half-price...
