According to the Swansea manager they did not get the breaks
from the officials! Fulton would never have done what he did
intentionally etc., etc.
They had 57% possession without 1 shot on target but it was the
officials' fault! The mind boggles

Thought he was good. I thought red for Grimes as well but can
see why he went yellow. Other 2 big decisions in the game both
correct. Managed to keep a lid on things when it bubbled up. Can
be pleased with his performance !

A very competent solid performance as expected, but it seems
that dissent and time wasting were not really worthy of any sort
of official concern. Having watched premier league and EFL
matches all season I am now convinced that these two elements of
the game don’t really “ count” at that level.
The apparent habit of standing in front of the ball preventing
a restart is now clearly acceptable to some officials.
Consequently on a Sunday morning at junior level when observing
I hear coaches shouting “ stand on the ball, stand on the ball”
which players then do.
I thought the red card was spot on and I don’t think Swansea can
complain about anything other than their own lack lustre
performance in which they were beaten by a better team that
clearly had the real desire to win one of the richest games in
football.

Here is my view for what its worth from some one who has half a
foot in the Swansea camp.
First and foremost congratulations to Brentford best team on the
day by a country mile
Think Kavanagh got all 3 KMI correct,Grimes challenge was just
about only a yellow card only.
The penalty is as a nailed on penalty your going to get.
Now the contentious Red Card, there was clearly no intent as you
can Clearly see Fulton has slipped but it is a nasty tackle and
has endangered Jensen's safety so Red for me.
As a side note suggestion in situations like that where you can
clearly see its a slip/accident yes the player has to be Red
carded but to save double jeopardy how about no further
suspension for the player?
Overall Kavanagh was steady,foul detection was a bit random and
often fell for the Brentford players rolling around a bit to
easily. I also didn't like how both sides were surrounding him
after every contusions decision.

The Grimes challenge is as clear a red card as I'll ever see -
he has jumped in at speed and caught the player at shin height.
I think the only reason the other player wasn't badly injured
was due to that leg not supporting any weight at the point of
contact.
With the benefit of being able to watch it again I think the
Fulton incident is absolutely not a sending off - it looked
awful in real time but on replay Fulton is doing nothing except
running towards the ball, and Jensen has run directly across him
with no time to react, resulting in him unfortunately landing on
the side of Jensen's foot/ankle. If this is "endangering an
opponent's safety" then players should not be allowed to run
anymore, for fear of an opponent putting their foot where the
player's foot is about to land.

As with lots of decisions, all about angles.
First challenge, should have been red, but from either Chris'
angle or even Sian's I dont think the severity was clear. The
angle shown from halfway line camera showed the lack of control
in the tackle. (A perfect example of what VAR was designed for)
The second challenge Kavanagh could not have seen the slip, the
tackle ended up being 6 studs into the ankle, well away from the
ball. Again from that angle, red card - from behind the goal, he
may have mitigated. (OFR at monitor on a PL game)
