Gillett really has avoided cautioning players where at all
possible and I credit him for that, but Lerma finally pushed it
too far and is rightly cautioned just as the first half comes to
and end.
Very impressive so far. I hope he continues in this vein. Could
be a little stronger on dissent from players and the benches but
I understand his reluctance to issue cautions in such a high
tension affair.

All he has to do now, is give Begovic a second yellow in the
second half for time wasting !

The officials are the only people in that ground who are keeping
calm heads. I normally like Thomas Frank, but he is really
getting on my nerves with his watch antics, and of course the
irony is that should Brentford get ahead they will inevitably
slow down restarts themselves.

Three penalty appeals in one and Gillett spots a free out. this
is some game.. every decision from here to the end is crucial.
Hopefully he can keep this up.

He's been very very good so far I think, definitely wouldn't
look out of place in Select Group 1. His man-management and calm
under pressure is top notch.

It certainly was a good decision with all that was going on!
My only worry is that, he has done so well in this game, he will
get promoted and have to contend with VAR in future. So sad.

A massive game and I think its fair to say that Jarred Gillet
has risen to the occasion.
He got his tactical approach spot on from the very start. It is
always a gamble to take a lenient stance from the very beginning
in such a high stakes game but it paid off and for the majority
of the game he was able to control proceedings without any need
to issue soft free kicks or award yellow cards. He calmness and
communication was excellent throughout and he always portrayed a
calm, positive image which no doubt helped in his management of
the players.
In terms of the big decisions I feel he got them all correct.
The penalty that was awarded was right for me and the red card
for DOGSO was nailed on. I counted at least 4/5 other penalty
appeals that he correctly waved away.
All yellow cards issued were correct and he issued them at the
correct times where possible to quell the rising aggression and
tension.
One could perhaps suggest he could have dealt with dissent and
the gestures of the Brentford manager in a stronger fashion
however in such a huge a match with tensions already high I
think he probably chose the approach that got the best outcome
and as the game went on I think players saw he wasn't going to
be swayed and the protests seemed to decrease slightly.
On the whole and excellent performance that would not only fit
into SG1 I think would surpass the level of a number of current
SG1 officials.
Congratulations to Brentford and hard luck to Bournemouth who
contributed to a great game.
