Congrats to Harrington. I know different bodies appoint but just
last week he had the F A Trophy Final and now he is back at
Wembley with the Div 1 Final. I for one always like to see
things shared out as much as possible so am slightly
disappointed.
I won’t react to Madley’s appointment

Madley has clearly finished right up there to have been given
the appointment. From his performance at Oxford it was clear
why.
It’s such a shame that people who apparently have some strange
personal thing against certain referees, probably ones who they
have never actually met, don’t have the ability to bring
themselves to just say congratulations. It’s very sad to read
things like that on this kind of forum.
Perhaps they just don’t like being proved that their opinion may
be wrong

Harrington has certainly gone under my radar somewhat which, I
should add, is generally a most commendable thing. If SG1 take 2
promotions then he and Gillett are the candidates with Madley
and Hicks going up to SG2.
It seems that Robinson has possibly had his chance for promotion
and it hasn't gone his way.

Congratulations to all.
The Harrington appointment is a bit of a surprise, thought that
final would gone to gillett.
Think there are 3 candidates for promotion to sg1 after this
appointment, Gillett, Brooks and Harrington.
Think Harrington is in the category of Attwell, good when
nothing much happens, but not so good when things do happen.
Cant say i am surprised by Madley appointment, however thought
Brakespear was in with a shout.
Feel sure Madley will be promoted to sg2 and probably back to
sg1 quite quickly, the latter as i think he is much better than
most on sg2 at present.
Brakespear must be in with a shout of promotion too, along with
Hicks.

Really pleased for Bobby Madley in particular. A reward for
sticking at it!! It would have been easy for him to have packed
it in all together but his hunger must still be there to start
from the National list again. He was very good in the Oxford
game and like I’ve said before if I was a Championship manager I
would much rather him referee my fixtures than most of the SG2
list.

Maybe the accepted view is that Gillett did enough on Saturday
and Harrington needs another "test" to confirm (or otherwise)
his promotion credentials?

No issue with Mr Madley getting the L2 final and I hope he and
team do well. However, if he was pencilled in for this final,
would have been better to give someone else a chance in the L1
semi, by promoting the best of the L2 quartet to the L1 game and
giving someone (the 9th ranked?) one of the L2 semis. It's
hardly as though Mr Madley needs the bigger match experience...

That did cross my mind however I wonder whether it is because
there was an extra week between the play offs this time compared
to usual. Therefore that would have meant Madley would have
refereed on the last day of the season on 7th May and wouldn’t
have refereed again until the final on the 31st. That’s quite a
big time with no game so maybe it was to make sure he kept his
match sharpness with a game in between?

Makes perfect sense for referees that have done the semis to be
appointed to the finals, given the time lapse
Since the end of the efl season.
