I cannot for the life of me see what you’re on about
GameDay2021. You could argue the challenge is minimum reckless
(and it’s clearly DOGSO once a foul is awarded) when if the
challenge doesn’t happen Vardy is running in on goal with no one
else around him. You could also potentially argue it’s SFP as
the follow through is on the borderline between reckless and
endangering safety of an opponent. Just had to be a red card.
Thought Jones and his team had a really good game tonight. Two
big calls, both 100% correct. Pundits on the television as per
usual trying to cause an argument about anything our officials
do. That’s the biggest annoyance as an ex ref watching sky these
       days...
       [/quote]
You need to look at it from both sides. Its clearly one of the
where no one will be happy. Its going to divide people. Some
will say he got the ball. Theyve a point. Some will say the pass
was too near the keeper to be a red. Theyve got a point. Some
will be like u. Theyve got a point
My point being no one is going to be happy. The pundits have a
point. They have a clue and wouldnt be pundits if they didn't.
My view was red the minute I saw it. Now I think yellow. I'll
probably wake up tomorrow and think something else.
Its just one of those ones. We could argue til the cows come
home and there's no point having an argy bargy over it

I think the key here is that you felt red immediately but in
hindsight would now call yellow. Rob Jones had to make an
immediate call and went red too. Interestingly after all the
nonsense interventions from VAR in recent weeks Jonathan Moss
didn’t feel he needed to overrule and quite right in my view.
Like others I felt Jones had a good solid game and would hope
this will give him added confidence to push on and establish
himself. I have to say I always felt that the potential is there
to be an outstanding referee, more so than Darren England, but
seeing the separate on-going thread it is clear the latter has
settled more into PL life. In the longer run only time will tell
hi goes in to have the most stellar career.

Thanks for reply GameDay... I certainly don’t want any trouble
either. I’m far too old for any of that!!!
I’d seen your recent comments over the last few weeks when
you’ve not been particularly positive about any of our officials
and felt it needed to be said. I feel they got the two big
decisions right last night, and that’s what we ask of them.
Fingers crossed it gives Jones the confidence to push on now.
Like you said Hendo, so many of us on here have seen him as a
potential big name in SG1 in the coming years. Let’s hope that
       he realises that.

I get your point. I do agree it was one of his better
performances though. He settled in to the game which is
something he struggled to do in other games. He looked relaxed
       last night

This has to be definitely Serious Foul Play or definitely DOGSO.
What it cannot be is a bit of both so that adds up to a red
       card.
Painful that it was, I am not convinced on Serious Foul Play.
Just because the defender made a (horrendous) mistake that does
not mean he cannot try and recover the ball. He did nick the
ball but then caught Vardy with his follow through. Is there a
difference from the case of the West Ham player who cleared the
ball, caught the opponent, got a VAR inspired red card and then
       successfully appealed?
DOGSO is equally doubtful for me - the keeper was slight
       favourite.
Its a yellow for me - but arguable up to a red (unlike the West
       Ham one!).

Competent display from David Coote at Selhurst Park although he
didn't have a lot to do as City eased to yet another victory.
Yellow card was correct as was the decision to rule out a City
opener in the 1st half for offside following consultation with
the VAR. United v Liverpool game tomorrow becomes key as United
seek to delay for another week the inevitable march by City to
       the title.

I agree. Like Jones he seems to be starting to settle onto the
PL. Hopefully some big games for him soon
Good one for Kavanagh as well. Got the pen right. Similar to
Coote, nothing big to do but got all the simple things right
