bmb jr is not happy! Andre has either been at AFCB or
Southampton, home matches, every year bar 1 since jr was born,
on the weekend before or after his birthday. This is now the 2nd
year it has not happened in 17 years so bmb jr is very
displeased!!! When I say displeased I mean birthday cake thrown
in the bin level of displeased! It also means that it will be
some time before Andre is at AFCB as he has them away. Thanks
for ruining bmb jr's birthday appointments peeps - I hope you
are thoroughly ashamed of yourselves! [emoji35]
Grandad East is due there surely next time!! I'll pop into the
AMEX on Saturday to ensure he has made sure his parking space is
available down there! ;D

Grandad East doesn't get birthday cake! Only Andre is afforded
that particular privilege! Even Mum doesn't get to share the
birthday cake that she spent hours baking and decorating unless
Andre "allows" me a slice - been jr's way since he was about 4!!
Not baking one next year until AFTER the appointments are
announced!!

Appointments like this make me fear for the future of English
refereeing. I am not arguing the fact that Atkinson, Marriner,
Oliver, Taylor etc. are (usually!) very good referees, but do
they need to get appointments every week? They have achieved
almost everything they can in football, and could quite easily
turn around and say they’ve had enough one day so why not use
their experience to help the next generation? Tierney and
Kavanagh as new and soon to be (?) FIFA refs would surely
benefit from taking charge of a match like a London Derby on
super Sunday? Hooper and Coote promoted to SG1 and yet they have
only refereed 3 PL games between them - IMO, if you promote
someone, you have to give them at least a couple of fixtures per
month to help th m settle in.
Further to all that, Moss gets a trip to Old Trafford following
an uncertain display last week. I quite like Moss as a referee,
but the missed RC for SFP followed by the shambles (he clearly
put his whistle to his mouth before turning down the penalty
appeal) of the second goal surely mean a week away from the
limelight? You can guaranteee if it had been a new ref making
those decisions we wouldn’t see them for months!
My rant is over, but as long as Mike Riley is in charge making
conservative appointments, I shall continue to fear for the
future of English refereeing.
As a side note, I find it interesting that they have yet to
replace Bobby Madley following his premature departure. Surely
there could be opportunity to hand a coupe of SG2 refs a trial
to help them prepare for promotion?
Finally, does anyone know what has happened to Graham Scott? I
hope he returns soon, I really like him as a ref!

Oh, it's him who picks them too; that explains a lot. ;)

What does Moss have on the person(s) that allocate the matches?!
If his ability in general and performances in particular had any
bearing on his appointments, we'd have seen the back of the
dross from Moss ages ago.

Bankes and Garratt are the 4th officials at those games, as they
have been all week.

referee 12 is correct. According to EFL website, both have been
switched from 4th Official to referee.

Not according to MOAS.
And if you look at the EFL website, those two are actually the
only officials listed on the two games. I suspect a typing error
is to blame.
