Hardly surprising and probably makes sense with Taylor getting a
second last year.
Definitely be Pawson next year 😁

Excellent appointment. Look forward to seeing a Final
masterclass after last years diabolical refereeing performance

If it were to be a second timer then I support the appointment
of Michael Oliver. However his, and Taylor's appointment last
year, means that ultimately two senior referees who might have
been awarded the FA Cup Final are going to miss out. Not a happy
state of affairs. I wonder if any of the SG1, not already having
the honour, were canvassed about whether they wished to be
considered for appointment this year or wait until their was a
capacity crowd at Wembley once more.
I also wonder, precedent now having been set and followed,
whether this marks the end of the ' once only rule' for the FA
Cup Final and they turn to the Scottish model where I believe a
different criterion is employed about repeat appointments to
Finals.

Congratulations to all, well deserved, hope you all have a good
day.
Without a capacity crowd, it seems right to follow with last
years example, however agree that unfortunately some senior
officials may miss out on a final because of this.

Pawson won't be happy
I'm starting to worry for him now he hasn't got either of the
finals. Kavanagh and Tierney look to be his threats for next
year
Oliver the best option though for a 2nd timer

Lord Elleray made the decision....

Just wonder if they will change the policy’ from referees only
officiating one FA Cup Final from now? I’m not sure if there is
a merit table/ranking system but, maybe, the cup final should be
awarded on merit rather than the next on list who hasn’t had it
a cup final?

Pawson has already had League Cup final. It makes sense to delay
him getting the FA Cup final for a year or two until full crowds
are back.
Oliver a fair appointment given Taylor had it again last year.
Presumably Paul Tierney's 4th officila appointment is in some
doubt due to his injury. Has Attwell been FO yet?
I guess Pawson, Kavanagh, Tierney and Attwell will all get the
cup fial soon barring unexpected events, quite possibly over the
next four years, and would probably rather wait. Most of the
other SG1 officials are too young/inexperienced and have time on
their side if they've not had it so far. The only real more
experienced candidates would be Scott or Mason I think but don't
think either are deserving of it this season really. Giving it
to Lee Mason when he's not had a PL game for two and a half
months would devalue it just as much as giving it to someone
twice I think.

I wonder could Tierney and Kavanagh potentially swap roles if
Tierney's calf is as bad as feared..
