This is a serious, potentially damaging state of affairs and
nothing to laugh or smile about.
However my heartfelt thanks to JCFC for lightening the tone with
his suggestion that Lee Mason could referee the Milan Derby and
Andy Woolmer El Classico. I chuckled myself to sleep last night
at the prospect. 😄😂😄😂

me slightly raise one eyebrow was "successfully". I mean, I
could referee the Milan Derby and El Classico but it would be a
sight from which those of a nervous disposition would have to
avert their eyes and European football would probably take about
twenty years to recover.

Whilst I have no doubts that Messrs Mason and Woolmer would make
a far better fist of refereeing a Milan derby than I would
(indeed Whistleblower may also be more adept at it than me), I
will be happy to throw my hat into the ring as a potential
official on the new league. I appreciate that this may render
me ineligible for all sorts of things in the future but, as I am
well into my fifties, I would be happy to hoover up any large
wodge of cash that they care to hurl in my direction. I suspect
that there are many far higher ranked referees than me who would
make a similar decision. Although SG1 referees are paid a
decent salary, retirement from refereeing will not mean
retirement for working for them. A European Super League would
only need a small number of officials and could afford to pay
vast salaries to officials if it chose, or needed, to.

As this tweet says - what a disgrace... I won't say what I
really think or I'll have to put myself on moderated posts due
to foul language!
A board member of one of the ‘big 6’ tells Sky Sports 🗣
“Our job is to maximise our revenues. The wider good of the game
is a secondary concern."
He also confirms the clubs don’t care about the backlash and
opinions of the fans.
What a disgrace.

Do I detect a conspiracy theory arising? Six English clubs
(twice as many as elsewhere), with players such as Kane,
Sterling, Foden McGuire, Rashford...... prevented from
representing their country? Assuming PSG don't join the
bandwagon, the French will be laughing all the way to Qatar and

Given his links with the leisure leagues and the fact he is
pushing them and inclusivity I'd think not. Could be wrong of
course but it would go against what he is promoting with leisure
leagues. He also has a pretty established retirement job in the
media. I'd personally think those most tempted would be those
close to retirement who are unlikely to get a role as a UEFA
observer or a high level Federation based job. As JCFC said

I think Whistleblower in the first paragraph of #29 is right.
The fact that the statement was issued the day before the UEFA
meeting to confirm the new Champions League format - and at a
time when the proposed "super league" has been able to muster
only 12 of its suggested 15 "core" members - is a bit of a
giveaway. I guess it will now be a question as to who blinks
first. I think the likelihood must be that UEFA will cave in to
the demands of the new cartel for (even) more money as the price
of averting the new ESL.
