Definitely met the criteria for a penalty in the modern game
---he felt contact so is entitled to go down, it was in the
penalty area, the ball had gone but that no longer matters, Cash
endangered an opponent by making contact and it was Harry Kane
--surely he wouldn't manufacture contact --would he?

Recovered quickly from his writhing around once Dean had given
the penalty so he could take it and add to his wonderful tally
of 180 PL goals, 157 of which are from the penalty spot. What a
goal scoring machine he is! 😂

I may be younger than some but was there ever a time when you
were allowed to bring someone down in the penalty area just
because they no longer had the ball?

My point was that, in the modern game, players are having free
kicks awarded against them and receiving cautions when they win
the ball fairly and squarely, therefore, it would appear that
the ball is no longer an important part of the game.
In answer to your question, if you brought someone down in the
penalty area and, if in the opinion of the referee it was foul
play, then a penalty would be awarded or a free kick to the
defending team if the attacker had transgressed.
It used to be such a simple game both as a player and as an
official, sadly it is now becoming a media circus.
