C PAWSON - Wolves v Liverpool

Firstly, let’s hope Rui Patricio is ok after that horrible
horrible collision with Coady.
Onto Pawson, and I know he’s been out of commission for a bit,
but tonight he looked “rusty” for want of a better word.
Could have been a penalty on two minutes against Liverpool, and
some other decisions which were incorrect, however his
positioning, or lack of, has probably contributed to the
incorrect calls, notably against Boly for handball when it
struck his thigh, and another penalty claim late on.

Likewise, I Thought Boly call was very poor and Thiago lucky not
to get a yellow earlier than he did. A few times he blew oddly
late for fouls.
That said I didn’t think he made any major mistakes and was fine
in the big picture sense. Sign of a good referee I suppose when
they’re bad games aren’t that bad! Fingers crossed he can return
to his excellent form soon.

I agree with all the above and would add that Pawson seemed to
blow for fouls belatedly I think he has blown full time a bit
sooner than he should of IIRC patricio was injured in the 87th
minute , 7 mins were added on should have blown 110 mins as play
didn’t resume until the 100th minute after patricio went off

If play restarted at 100 minutes and t here 7 minutes added on,
I'm struggling to see why he should have blown after 110?

I also thought it was a penalty and one where I would have
expected VAR to get involved.
In terms of the time added on, surely the 7 minutes accounted
for period between the offside and 90 minutes as there was no
way the rest of the half warranted 7 minutes.
Awful collision with Patricio and good to hear that he is
conscious in the dressing room.

First of all best wishes to patricio hope he recovers fully and
swiftly.
As a minimum of seven minutes were allotted, then a minimum of
seven minutes should have been played from the restart after
patricios injury unless further time needed to be alootted for
further reasons during that minimum of seven minutes.
I noted the game restarted with 100.17 on the sky clock and
pawson blew up at 107.26 approx, so fell within
The minimum of seven minutes.
Thought as others pawson was a bit rusty tonight, positioning
not brilliant at times, could have been a penalty
Against allison early on on another day.
Good to see pawson back on the field.

The injury occurred 87 mins play didn’t restart till 100th
minute then surely the 3 minutes prior to the 90 minute mark and
the 7 additional minutes being shown should be added ?
Especially as it took exactly 13 mins from play halted to
patricio leaving the field

Anything beyond 90 until 100 isn't part of the game though is
it. At 87 minutes, play was stopped due to the injury to the
keeper. This delayed the game by 3 minutes to completion. Prior
to this injury there would've been 4 additional minutes for last
time in the game.
If you add the 4 to the 3 to make 7 that means play is extended
from the 100th minute to the 107th minute.

I've not seen this one but, re Patricio injury, there seemed to
be some criticism on the Beeb website that it resulted from a
late flag for offside when the offside was clear for all to see
and the flag could have come a lot earlier. I do not think this
was a criticism of the ref or relevant AR, more of the current
system for calling off-sides when VAR is in operation. A case
perhaps of damned if you do and damned if you don't?
