Anyone have a view on whether or not Harry Kane should have
received red for this?

I'm still trying to work out why 2 of the Sky pundits after the
game thought it wasn't a penalty that was awarded to Arsenal.
Seeing it at full speed live, I wasn't certain at first who had
played the ball but replays showed that although Lacazette had
sliced his shot, he was then taken out by Sanchez in his late
attempt to get the ball. Apart from saying he thought Michael
Oliver got it wrong and suggesting rather sympathetically he may
have been tired after a trip to Europe midweek, Mourinho was
fairly restrained in his comments. At least he showed no
emotion when Lamela was sent off - a decision I suspect only
Spurs supporters would have been disappointed about!

RC for me. Deliberate, using excessive force, hand used as a
weapon.

Red for me too, same reasons as edy.
Thought lamela was lucky not to go for a second yellow earlier
in the game, he seems to be a liabilty with his
Hot headed temperament.

I am an arsenal fan so bias may play into it. It might not. I
thought Michael had an amazing game, dealt with all the crap the
players threw at him. Yellow cards all correct. Kane knew what
he was doing but not enough for a red. 1000% penalty just
watching MOTD 2 Jermaine Jenas is bitter and a sore loser imo,
he thinks it wasn't a penalty and Lamelas first yellow wasn't a
yellow when both were clearly correct

I'm going to stick my neck out and politely disagree with those
saying Kane should have seen Red. Yes, it was petulant and
probably ticked the box of excessive force for that type of
contact, but I don't think it endangered an opponent and I
didn't regard it as striking an opponent for VC. And sometimes
it's interesting to look at the instinctive reaction of the
players. Personally I didn't notice any outrage by Arsenal
players demanding a RC and even the victim of the challenge
looked more surprised than angry about it. It did justify a YC
though so I was surprised neither referee nor AR thought so.
Lamela was certainly walking a tight rope and, even if the first
YC was slightly harsh taken in isolation, he had been warned
along with Xhaka after their earlier altercation. No sympathy
from me (especially after getting Martial sent off at OT for his
despicable antics at the beginning of the season). Hot headed I
agree but an unpleasant trait as well.
It's a pity the Kane controversy has blown up because I actually
felt Michael Oliver handled a feisty North London derby very
well. Played some good advantages too and kept a lid on
proceedings without being too intrusive.

Kane's challenge for me probably met the criteria for a RC, I
don't think that it was clear enough for VAR to intervene
though.
Lamela can have no complaints, IMO he could have gone for a
tackle he committed a few minutes before he was sent off.
I also thought the challenge for the penalty (correctly awarded)
looked quite bad. While I fully accept it was an honest attempt
to play the ball and make a block, it looked like contact was
quite high. I initially thought it was with the side of the boot
but on second viewing I think contact may have been with the
studs. YC in real time fine and not enough for VAR to intervene
but I think in the case of a RC VAR should support. I want to
correct that, watching the replay again the contact was not as
significant and YC is correct definitely no more.
On the whole I thought Oliver performed like he has this whole
season - fine. IMO I think he has somewhat stagnated in his
progress. Obviously he has reached a high level and the rate of
improvement will naturally slow but I feel that this season he
hasn't really pushed on as one would hope. Maybe its just me but
I don't get the same sense of enthusiasm I did from him in
previous seasons, put simply he seems to be in his comfort zone
and maybe a little too comfortable!
