Gavin Ward - Swansea v Middlesbrough

I am a little surprised that no comments have been made
concerning the above. I have seen Mr Ward a few times and whilst
he has not set the world alight, he seemed to be a steady
official. He has been involved in a couple of major
controversial decisions. With the score at 1-0. There is a
Middlesbrough player in possession in the Swansea penalty area.
The Swansea player has challenged. Not got the ball and kicked
the Boro player on the foot. Swansea player goes down screaming
and the ref gives Swansea the free kick. Not helped by the fact
that the ball ran free and was put in the Swansea net. Double
punishment for Boro. In the 96th minute. A challenge in the Boro
penalty area on a Swansea player. For me a penalty. Initially Mr
Ward signalled a corner then points to the penalty spot. Correct
decision and I’m braised. I think the Asst May have helped him
out . Result 2-1 Swansea. You may be surprised that Mr Warnock
went ballistic on the pitch afterwards. In the later interview I
understand he was upset with every justification but some of his
comments against Swansea were beyond inappropriate. Saying that
Keith Cooper was having an influence on Swansea referees. Out of
order once again. Hope he gets a long ban .

For me two poor decisions. I don’t know why he has changed his
decision - he gave a corner which was perfectly acceptable. Must
have had a shout from the AR

Comments were made in the Appointments thread (probably wrongly)
I agree, as I said there. 2 very poor, game changing decisions,
that affected other teams at the top

That man has been a menace to referees for what, 20 years.
At any point the FA or equal could say, look, behaviour not
acceptable, 6 month ban
In a nutshell you see the support, or lack of, to officials by
the lenient dealing with this character
I have only seen still pics yet even in them you see a snarling
aggressive man,
So next time anyone wonders why their pub league game manager is
chasing you round the park, you can see why,

Two awful and rubbish decisions if the truth be told, but
considering the standard of officials in that league, I'm not
one bit surprised.. The state of refereeing currently in the UK
is on its knees....

Judging by the general standard of refereeing now on show in SG2
I suppose Ward just about merits his place there but he is a
very average referee at best. Shame because as has been
mentioned before on RTR, most notably by m'learned friend
nemesis, he was an outstandingly good AR.
I guess when someone chooses to leave a really promising AR
career in order to referee it is a bit of a gamble. For Darren
England it has the promise of paying off. Now I suppose match
officials have to make a decision about which route they take
much earlier.

Too early in my mind. My refereeing improved working as an
assistant to better referees. As a 4th official you have too
many other things to concern yourself with and I dont feel I
learnt as much from those games.

In a great position to give the corner, I mean penalty, or I
doont know what I mean

Everyone has their own opinion on Neil. But as a Middlesbrough
fan who can blame him for his outburst after yet another
officials decision goes against us.
In the last month alone we have had
V Blackburn - The Dael Fry incident
And then 2 V Swansea were going to feel hard done to
