We still have the AAR system & occasionally you do have to do a
double take if a goalie is by the goal line on the same side as
the AAR & they can be virtually shoulder to shoulder. It's only
a split second thing & I don't recall any issues arising out of
it, play is so fluid that really by the time you even notice
them next to each other one or the other has moved and put some
distance between them again.

Ignoring the fact that I personally quite like the 'sugar plum
fairy' look of the pink Macron Kits (black and blue are classic
and generally nice), I agree with bmb with her hatred of the
fluro yellow shirts. We use Legea in my local federation and I
often go out of my way to avoid having to wear the highlighter
yellow option.
Circling back to the original topic, I believe that part of the
reason there are often clashes is due to broadcasting factors
and ensuring the referee can be differentiated for the visually
impared. The purple is quite dark and will clash/not be clearly
differentiated blues/blacks/clarets, where as the 'hyper
turquoise' is as good as white in some cases and will clash with
those lighter colours. While logically it wouldn't clash,
sometimes the safest bet is to put the highlighter yellow on and
let bmb's eye twitch as you walk out the tunnel.

Do you know I was wondering what the UCL pink number reminded me
of and....the sugar plum fairy is a perfect description. it is
just about the most camp colour I have ever seen on any
sportsperson or match official.

Could we not refer to the Champions League as the UCL. It's
very confusing for those of us who live in the United Counties
League area (where referees, without fail, wear black). ;)

As time goes on and more posts are read we find out a bit more
about each contributor - I mean who would have thought that
Whistleblower would have a pupil (of unspecified gender) who
would take him to watch Sheffield United play?

Don't recall it being in Sheffield but I believe some blades
were present; worn as items of personal jewellery.

though a strip of another definition was most certainly
apparent.
