S MARCINIAK - Spain v England

Complete and utter rubbish from the officials when Pickford
manhandled the Spanish player Rodrigo in the box after making a
pigs ears of clearing the ball. Should have been a penalty and a
red card for the keeper.
How on earth both officials missed that is staggering.

He’s been poor all evening Sterling was fouled at the other end
and tgat should have been a penalty. Yellow card fir Dier was
well was dier!!
As for the Pickford incident the first slight pull was by the
Spaniard in my opinion. But either way he’s been poor all
evening

And another dreadful decision that’s not a caution for Maguire

Marciniak has been hopeless quite frankly. The inconsistency of
the performance is beyond belief, and some decisions like the
pull back on Sterling on 77 mins which warranted a card and
wasn't given, coupled with other incidents makes it a night to
forget for the Pole.

Couldn’t agree more that’s a dreadful performance from an elite
referee. Worse I’ve seen for a long time.

I have to agree this was a performance which was quite
unacceptable. He wasn't helped in the Pickford incident by the
official beside the goal who surely couldn't have had a better
view yet failed to see a most obvious foul. Despite some very
poor officiating, however, it did turn out to be a very
entertaining game played at a pace and in a manner which is
quite unusual for an England international side.

Can understand why the referee 'wasn't sure' but the goal line
official? Staggering!

Absolutely. I'd always rather watch a good game badly refereed
than a poor one refereed well. Not sure that's everyone's view.

As one who has spent far too many hours of his life watching
games that are both played and refereed badly I can only concur
with m'learned friend. The golden days of well played and well
refereed shine in the memory.
