I think it’s correct to say that VAR ruled out the goal
(correctly) as Lee Mason had initially given the goal?!

pushing in wall
Not that he blew the whistle to restart play.

All the concievable reasons will be looked at / made up to try
and justify what is the worst bit of officiating we have seen
for a long time.
In my view he blew the whistle for a quick free kick then
imediately realised the keeper wasnt ready and blew it again,
but then compounded it all with the fiasco afterwards.
Why he would not do what every referee does at the ceremonial
free kick and back away from the siyuation before restarting
play will remain a mystery.

I have not seen it.
Is it even remotely possible he could have used the whistle in
an effort to sort out a wall? And this whistle has been
mistaken for the, restart of play whistle?

I have not seen it.

In a nutshell, no.
IIRC he wasn’t even looking at the wall when he blew the
whistle.
Plus, if that was the real reason behind why the first whistle
went, the shambles that followed it wouldn’t reflect that it was
an issue with the wall, with the allowing/ disallowing of the
goal and then Big Brother getting involved (which Hooper made a
dogs dinner of in any case).
The chain of events don’t logically follow that scenario of the
wall being an issue.

What’s more laughable for me is people trying to come up with
reasons to stand over this absolute nonsense from an official
who is quite clearly out of his depth.
He awarded a goal and changed his mind. It beggars belief. He
didn’t know what he was doing and was like a rabbit trapped in
headlights.
He shouldn’t be involved in a Premier League game ever... simple

Plus the standard whistle signal for “stop - I need to sort
something out” is several short “toots” on the whistle whilst
moving towards the incident with some kind of hand signal.
This isn’t the whistle or signals given in that situation -
which was the one standard blast - like the one used to restart
play - coupled with him backing off the ball and standing still.

Don’t know what all the confusion is about 8)
Mason blew the whistle as Brighton were ready, realised the WBA
keeper wasn’t (tough luck) and blew before then ball crossed the
line hence the goal correctly ruled out!
Mind you if you have 15 shots at goal and miss two penalties and
score 0 goals do you really deserve anything?

Rather than make up some pathetic excuse, why not just admit
that Mason didn’t check the keeper was ready before blowing his
whistle, realised too late and tried to stop play but couldn’t
stop the kick being taken. The whole incident was a farce, and I
sincerely hope that Mason is not seen near a PL game for a long,
long time
