Give the Ref a Hand

Times reports that football players are being urged to show
their support for referees by clapping them on to the pitch. A
new campaign called 'Give the Ref a Hand' is being launched in
grassroots football with the hope that it will also be taken up
by the professional game.
Thoughts? Practical? 1st April? ........

So a guard of honour, then ten mins later an ( perceived)
dubious red card....
Not sure I want the spot light on me, the players are the main
component to the game, am there to oversee their game, not them
mine.
The prematch ( pre covid) line up and handshake is meaningless
as it is, purely for show.
Sure some folk will find positives from it tho

Admire the work being done to improve things for referees but
they’ve got this completely wrong!

Indeed. As that is in the name of "fair play", I can't say that
it has done anything to improve the behaviour of the players.
Probably just for the authorities to make people believe that
they are doing something to improve the behaviour without doing
much themselves.

Indeed. As that is in the name of "fair play", I can't say that
it has done anything to improve the behaviour of the players.

A minute's applause...?
Kevin Howley once got clapped off the field by 10 Mansfield
players at the end of a FA cup tie at Crystal Palace. They were
all 'booked' in the dressing room afterwards! ???
