I hope he has a better game than he had on Saturday.

A farewell present for Kettle?

A bit from the local BBC featuring Carl Boyeson's cup final
appointment tomorrow. Clearly disappointing for his family to
miss out on his big day.

Boyeson has done extremely well. I understand quite a few
seasons back he was dangerously near the foot of the National
List table but has certainly turned his performances around to
become a very safe pair of hands at League 1 and League 2 level.
Seen him live a couple of times, once memorably at Accrington
Stanley on one of the worst pitches I've seen since the 1970s. I
hope he has an excellent match on the lusher turf of Wembley.

Boyeson and his 4th Official, Trevor Kettle have, between them,
totted up 37 years on the National List ( or its equivalent )
Whatever else they are, they are survivors.

I know we are in the middle of a pandemic but this is a one off
for the officials and surely in a stadium the size of Wembley
they could have made some exceptions. Families could have sat in
their bubbles in splendid isolation from everyone else. The
upset shown by Carl’s wife says it all.
I bet enough Wembley workers, back room staff, hangers on will
find the chance to be there when their presence is not essential

Well strangely enough Mike Dean has a VAR appointment on
Saturday afternoon and a Fourth Official on Monday.
With Sunderland AFC raising £150,000 on" virtual" ticket sales
for our game to be distributed to local charities it shows the
appetite for this game by ourselves and to be honest there will
be a lot of very annoyed people if Mr Dean turns up in an
unofficial capacity and 45000 Sunderland supporters are denied
the safe opportunity.

Probably closed his date, and made himself unavailable so he can
watch it on TV

Perhaps he has landed the gig to sing the National Anthem.
