I am really looking forward to Darren Cann travelling at 22.5
mph down the line tomorrow to keep up with Traore --it should be
a sight to see, particularly as not many players are able to
keep up with him.
There is positioning, whether playing or officiating, and then
there is also the realm of possibility ---or in some cases
---impossibility.
I have watched matches tonight in England and Germany where ARs
were unable to keep up with a few players who broke quickly but
still managed to give correct decisions.

In all my years I have never heard of, sorry he is too
fast.....as acceptable.
Its pro sport with pro officials, you simply must be able to
keep up.
As match official it is your duty to be able to keep up with
play, its not optional.

Let me remove the quotation,
Can we change it too, making allowance for error at the highest
level because a player is too fast , is certainly something new.
If am permitted an opinion, which might differ from others, its
that it is not acceptable to dismiss an error based on the speed
of a player.
That goal was, 70 mins.....hypothetically an Ar unable to keep
up at that point, has even less chance in the extra time period
if required.
The issue last night was not ability, but, positioning.
Positioning is in our control. Staying in line with the second
last defender is not optional during open play.

Put this in context, the FIFA fitness test sprint for the
highest level is 40m in 6 seconds. That's 15 seconds for 100
metres.
Someone like Reece James, Traore, etc, at full speed will cover
that 40m in 4.5 seconds at most, potentially even faster. It
just isn't realistic to expect ARs to keep up, especially when
the attacker doesn't have the ball.

I am sure if you scrutinise every ar for every minute of every
game you will find them out of position on occasions,
No human being can ever be in position all the time, its
impossible. Just as var on offside cannot be 100 percent correct
as there arent cameras lying side by side but at different
intervals down the side of the pitch, you could say the
technology is out of position too.
As said previously said like all ar’s they will review their
actions during the game and learn from any errors or reviews of
their actions.

I am sure if you scrutinise every ar for every minute of every
game you will find them out of position on occasions,
No human being can ever be in position all the time, its
impossible. Just as var on offside cannot be 100 percent correct
as there arent cameras lying side by side but at different
intervals down the side of the pitch, you could say the
technology is out of position too.
As said previously said like all ar’s they will review their
actions during the game and learn from any errors or reviews of
their actions.

I understand I might well be the only person who thinks 6 yards
out of position, a distance which can be covered within under 2
seconds, is not ok.

I'm not sure anyone has said it's not OK, but a few have said
Sian is human and sometimes errs like humans do. [That's the
third time I've had to say it]
She'll know it's an error and she'll be disappointed, so why you
keep trying to hang her out to dry over it is anyone's guess.

It's a bit of a shame Usain Bolt wasn't on the line for this
game instead, although on balance I'd probably rather have
someone as highly qualified and capable as Sian.
