Almost seems as though something has awoke the card shark and he
is now suddenly living upto his reputation for me on the RC
incident I feel that he has seen it that many times he is
uncertain and watching frequently in slow motion rather than
full speed makes it look worse than it was

I don’t think that’s a red really. I would work on the theory
that they have seen a clenched fist. Years back when I first
started I was told to watch for closed fists with the use of the
arm as it generally indicates a violent intent...... that said
I’m not even convinced it’s properly clenched. It’s a shocker in
my opinion

According the Sky - Mason has only called Dean over because he
said there was a clenched fist by Soucek in the contact with the
elbow.
Make of that what you will...

I have always rated Mike Dean but that was NEVER a red card. A
shocking decision that took too long. The game I love is being
ruined.

More utter rubbish reasoning from Mason... the problem is that I
think Mason has passed the buck to Dean. When he sees that on
the screen I don’t think he wants to send him off but as Big
Brother has stepped in, he feels compelled to.
Only once have I seen a VAR recommendation for review rejected
on the field.

I'm one of Mike Dean's biggest fans but he's got this horribly
horribly wrong. Two things for me on this. 1 Soucek doesn't evan
look at Mitrovic. 2. Its not a swinging action he has lifted his
arm. What amazes me more is the fact he has seen it numerous
times on a replay and still deems it violent conduct.
I know the appointments for the weekend were already made prior
to his game Tueaday night but after the reaction to the game
Tuesday night and what is inevitably going to follow after this
maybe a week out of the firing line might fo him good.

I think it was quite clear that Dean did not want to issue the
red card. I'm not a lip reader but I think he said to Noble "I
have no option", then seemed to apologise to the player as he
issued the red. The problem is we don't know what they're
looking at when they go to the screen. What I mean by that is
the fact that two PL referees felt it was a red card suggests to
me that it meets some criteria that they are supposed to follow.
Hard to know though really, for me a bad call I can't really
understand it.

Bill Leslie on commentary remarked that Dean had been lenient
and then Alan Smith replied “give it time ”.
That made me chuckle.

That is the single worst VAR decision I have seen in the PL so
far.
Never ever a red in a million years. I put the blame firmly on
Lee Mason, how on earth does he think that should be a sending
off?
As soon as he summons Mike Dean to the monitor it puts him under
a lot of pressure to make the decision. I really think for
incidents like this, VAR should show it in real time only. It's
really unfair/inaccurate to slow it down and make it look a lot
worse than it is. If I was Mike Dean and I was only shown that
slo-mo ten or more times, I would probably be more likely to
send him off too...
It's an absolute farce. Just take a look on Twitter and see what
the punters think.
