Anthony Coggins AFC Wimbledon v Sunderland

Politely asking the question as to what are members thoughts
about Anthony Coggins ?
I ask this as a Sunderland supporter but in doing so reacting
to Wimbledon manager Glyn Hodges after match press conference
where he accused the referee of allowing Sunderland to "
referee" the match itself with gamesmanship and verbal pressure.
Yes I am aware I am in a privileged position after we had won
3-0 down there , but as a mere supporter who watched the game on
a live stream I thought he was as good as a referee as we are
going to get in our lowly status however it did make me think
it was a bit rich coming from someone who in the past played for
the Wimbledon "Crazy Gang" who pushed gamesmanship and verbal
dialogue to the very limit and also [ which will be long
forgotten now] headbutted an opponent in a game between
Sunderland and Sheffield United [ whom he later played for]out
of sight of both the match referee and the linesmen which put
the Sunderland player out for a few weeks afterwards.
As for the game itself it was the usual League One fare and
won't be remembered for long but for me I think he got most if
not everything correct and could be satisfied with his
performance.

I was a bit surprised when Mr Coggins got promoted from the NL a
few years ago as there seemed issues with his positioning and
decision making. However, he seems to have settled down ok on
the FL list.

Must have been really bad gamesmanship and pressure if it meant
they lost 3-0 - easy excuses to give. If I were a Wimbledon fan
I would be far more interested in how he is going to ensure that
they improve rather than blaming officials in this way.

I believe the senior match official observing and management
team were looking at him at Wimbledon so there may be something
in the pipeline for him.

I observed him at 2b and was very impressed. I'm not surprised
he has turned into a decent NL referee.
