Yes because the injuries happened in the penalty area and
anything that happens within the Pa is now a dropped ball to the
defending keeper.

in a while. I can see why friend has “missed” it - from his
position it looks like a 50-50 which is what I thought at the

just gets a touch on the ball which I think saves him. I think
they have got the decision just about right.

He pushed Pieters in the back before he even left the ground and
then had his arms over the top of him.
Believe me, Burnley very, very rarely get any favours from Kevin
Friend, not that we expect favours ---just fairness.

Ashington - i respect you and your wisdom. IMO Maguire jumps
fairly and wins the header, the Burnley defender doesn’t jump.
Maguire has to put his hands somewhere for leverage and that
means his hand comes on his back.
Look at the reaction of Peieters- he doesn’t even appeal for it,
which shows to me that even he didn’t think it was a foul

No problem, however, he pushed him in the back before he even
jumped and several Burnley players did appeal and correctly so
---as was proved by the all-seeing, always 100% correct VAR
decision. UNited did their usual best to referee the game,
however, Mr Friend was wise to some of their tricks.
I have to admit that I am just hoping that they may suspend the
season because of the virus because it is getting tiresome
watching the Premier League sniper turning up at all the grounds
and doing so much damage to so many players. The two games I
watched tonight had players going down when barely touched and
they have only one objective in mind.
They used to call it something which I am not prepared to say in
previous years and I don't like it at all.

Re the disallowed goal, one Burnley player seemed to appeal but
that may have been for offside - which it wasn't.
I think United deserved it on the second half performance but I
do wish our defence could improve their headed clearances which
usually loop into the air and go no distance.
Yes, Friend definitely better after HT and there were less
difficult incidents to adjudicate on. And players kept heir
cool. I'm glad Ole made the point in his post match interview.
On the Shaw challenge, the clear and obvious error was Friend
not giving the foul. I wonder whether Attwell advised the
monitor because he thought it was a RC or simply to highlight
the Shaw foul to negate the incident at the other end. I'm not
sure of the protocol with the latter which is a point TillysDad
raised.

Had the whistle gone when the ball was still in the penalty area
I would agree with that, however, the ball was some 30 yards
away from goal and near the touchline when the whistle went and
I thought that play should have restarted at that point.

I suppose we will just have to leave it as two posters with
differing opinions.
I agree regarding the state of football as you have said many
times on here which I have also many times agreed with. Albeit i
did think Burnley were equally as guilty of the theatrics
perhaps more so tonight, despite dyche’s repeated claims on the
topic.
Despite the terrible ongoing situation i do hope some sort of
football continues just for my own sanity!

I am at a complete loss as to what var can intervene on
nowadays.
I was lead to believe that var can only intervene if a red card
offence is committed but missed by the officials or incorrectly
sanctioned in var’s opinion.
Seeing as var must have recommended a visit to the screen for a
red card offence by shaw, surely if the on field ref disagrees
and deems it is not a red card, as no goal has been scored, he
cannot re referee the game, give a foul and yellow card. Surely
play should have continued to the point of the brady foul at
which point a red card should have been showed to him for dogso
and not yellow. Please correct me on the above if i am wrong.
Personally i thought it was straight red for shaw, poor
challenge and he will benefit by being able to play in the next
3 games when he should be suspended (personal opinion).
On the maguire goal, of recent we have seen decisions go either
way but once a foul had been given on field it
Was not going to be overturned.
Not one of friends better performances tonight.

Why was Maguire's a foul when Mee clearly put his arm into
Cavani's face earlier on with no free kick given?

Law 8. Dropped ball procedure. Disagrees with you, If
Burnley player has ball WHEN THE GAME is stopped, then the
dropped ball is given at the place the ball was when the game
was stopped
Had the ball simply been lumped from penalty area into the
Burnley half and not touched by Burnley, then the restart goes
back to the pen area.

Law 8 clears this up for you. Kindly ignore the incorrect
