If I am correct, that just leaves number 6, which is definitely
in "kick yourself" territory, even for a layman.

Shakespeare coined the phrase "like patience on a monument" in
Twelfth Night and it has since been used by others.
Not having jad's polyglot talents , I do insist on Pique Dame,
rather than the Russian title. Thus we hear Peak, Damn!

I acted in Twelfth Night when at Cambridge ( many, many years
ago now ) and we are going to see it at the Barbican at the
beginning of January. I don't remember that line at all but I
       shall listen out for it.

Whilst still not knowing the answer to number 6 I have looked
through all the answers and I realise that in that list there
are only two operas I haven't seen; Emilia di Liverpool and
       Nixon in China

I once put on a Quiz Night and one of the questions was, which
of these four is actually an opera by Donizetti ?
       A) Bianca di Manchester
       B) Chiara di Newcastle
       C) Emilia di Liverpool
       D) Giulia di Leeds
I recall each answer got roughly an equal number of picks

That's very impressive - even more so as you once told us that
you sang in one of them.
For my part, I can only claim to have seen one. Perhaps I should
change my user name to Phyllis Stein.

When Liverpool was capital of Culture some years back there was
a plan to put on the very rarely performed Emilia di Liverpool.
I would certainly have travelled up to the Mersey to see it but
sadly those plans came to naught.

As I usually endeavour to do, as a reciprocal gesture of thanks,
here are five for you to get stuck into JCFC
1 Sounds like this Cambrian attained death
2 They are not known for having a jolly time
3 Did she do this behind the bicycle sheds ?
4 In this opera it wasn't Adam and Eve who did it
       5 Nuns talk

Thanks again for the challenge, Sir. Off the top of my head, I
       can only offer
       1. Owen Wingrave
       and
       3. Susanna's Secret.
I shall have a longer think!

Both absolutely correct and I thought they were the hardest
       questions. I salute you.
