Including the fixtures this weekend, here is the spread of
matches across the group
3 matches - Atkinson, Kavanagh, Marriner, pawson, Taylor,
Tierney
2 matches - Attwell, Bankes, Coote, Dean, Friend, Jones, Mason,
Moss, Oliver, Scott
1 match - England, Hooper, Madley
For VAR
4 - Tierney
3 - Coote, Hooper, Madley, Mason, Oliver
2 - Attwell, Bankes, Dean, England, Friend, Marriner, Moss,
Scott
1 - Atkinson, Jones, Kavanagh, pawson, Taylor
Nothing for Jarred Gillett as VAR - who has a match in every
round from Boxing Day to New Year in the Championship

Rob jones involved in every leicester game - surely they
could’ve mixed it up?

You’re joking aren’t you- the appointment makers couldn’t
organise a day out at a park!

A very disappointing spread of appointments once again from the
PL
Oliver with Arsenal for the 3rd time this season after having
them against Wolves 4 matches ago.
Tierney with Spurs for 3rd time also, but first time on Wolves
Graham Scott refs Palace for the 3rd time this season - half of
his games this season so far have been involving C Palace.
ATtwell with Chelsea again barely 2 weeks after doing their game
against Wolves, and Pawson's 3rd Arsenal game - albeit first
since October.
Madley back with a game at St Mary's - his last PL game was also
a Southampton game against Sheffield United. He's had the same
number of games as SImon Hooper which is absolutely disgraceful.
For a FIFA referee to be involved in so few PL games is
scandalous
3rd Everton game for Friend and Oliver refs M United again soon
after doing the Sheffield United away game - 3 matchdays!
3rd Arsenal game already for Atkinson - 3 of their past 9 games
he has refereed. ALso referees West Brom barely 2 weeks after
doing their game against A Villa!
Marriner referees Southampton for the 3rd time this season

I think too much is sometimes made of how quickly a referee has
a team again but Atkinson doing West Brom V Villa and West Brom
V Arsenal less than two weeks later (and same for Attwell with
Chelsea), and Jones doing Newcastle in LC and then in league 10
days later isn't great.
I think Tierney only has two PL games. Surprised to see Coote
and Mason with three VAR games as I think they're two of the
weakest in that role, and not sure that's where Madley's
strengths especially lie either.
Good to see Jones get two PL games. A shame that England and
especially Madley don't have the same - Madley's a FIFA referee
and has done perfectly fine this season from what I've seen so
not sure why they're so reluctant to give him games.

This is an example of where I don't see a problem. Oliver did
Arsenal in week 2 back in September and then refereed them
against Wolves more than two months later, and now is doing what
would normally be considered a big game (when Arsenal are doing
a bit better!) a month or so after that. I think that's
perfectly fine.

According to the Premier League website, a couple of changes to
assistants meaning SG2 assistants will be in PL action:
Steve Child replaces Constantine Hatzidakis as AVAR at Arsenal
Nick Greenhalgh replaces Marc Perry at Leeds
Matthew Jones (making his PL debut) replaces Ed Smart at West
Ham

Hopefully Nuno is happier with Paul Tierney for the match home
to Spurs. Spurs are winless in their past 10 matches with Mr
Tierney either in charge or on VAR (where he was for the 2-0
loss to Leicester last week) not a friend of my hapless Spurs
side in those matches either....
