Regarding Peter Bankes promotion I'm a little surprised
considering he is already 38 and therefore not likely to hit the
Elite list in the future - could they have saved this spot for
someone else next year? Stuart Attwell is 38 and has been on
the list a few years now (for the 2nd time) and barely gets a
game in the middle for UEFA only as VAR (I counted two only this
year) so can't imagine Bankes suddenly picking up lots of
appointments.
I'm also confused by UEFA's treatment of Paul Tierney - I have
researched and can't find any UEFA/FIFA game he refereed in the
whole of 2020 whilst Coote and Madley picked up Nations League
matches and Attwell had an U21 match. To go a whole year
without even a Europa League qualifier appointment is a bit odd
isn't it?? At age 40 (on Christmas Day) his spot might become
vulnerable next year with Jones and England pushing for a place.

It is interesting about Tierney because in the domestic game I
think he is regarded as being quite above Attwell, Coote and A
Madley in the pecking order.

I don’t believe we will see any movement in England as we have a
fairly stable, youthful FIFA breeding at present, unless someone
voluntarily decides to relinquish his/her badge. If they do then
Robathan seems to be a good prospect going forward. Plus
effectively we have 11 FIFA assistants as Sian Massey-Ellis is
being appointed to mainstream European ties.

The FA website reporting Neil Davies has been promoted to the AR
list as well as promotions for Rebecca Welch and Emily Carney

I wonder if anyone is leaving the list or are well allowed 11
male FIFA assistants? If someone is leaving, Harry Lennard seems
the most likely candidate!

Is there some issue with the delivery of the 2021 badges? All
referees yesterday were wearing their 2020 badges still? ???
