Yes, but may be getting close to the cut off by the time FIFA
places become available. That was my point.

There's currently 9 FIFA referees from England so one spot is
left. I'd think Jones has a very strong chance. It could be
others after that where there's a problem.

Disappointed with no Hungarian changes. Was hoping for much
better from our Federation. All the words about how we are
working towards the future, it's time for big changes and time
to focus on our young, upcoming referees, blah, blah and then
the actions show that nothing changes. Don't know why I'm
surprised it was just talk and no action, well I'm not actually
surprised just disappointed. Vad has been out injured for the
majority of the past 2 seasons and all of this season so far, he
should have been removed. We have 3/4 potentially decent
youngsters that it would have been worth taking a chance on 1 of
them. Berke should have been promoted to Group 2. So frustrating
at what a laughing stock we have become. :'(

Except they seem to be the main VARs in Europe for England and

Here you can read the letter from FIFA.

Was Kralovecs demotion due to the current match fixing

Federations can nominate whoever they want (subject to them
meeting the criteria) so if they want a different referee to one
that is on the list they they just don't nominate him & nominate
a different referee in his place. Hungary removed Andó-Szabó
2/3 years ago and replaced him with Berke is one recent example.
Changes to the list only happen in January but changes to
categories can happen in January and July.
       [/quote]
Germany is "experts" in this. If they have a ref on the list at
40-42 years going nowhere they replace him with someone younger.
They have done this several times the last years.

Perhaps the time has come for FIFA to have a separate category
       for VAR?
X number per Federation that do not from their overall total so
as an example England could have 10 referee, 10 ARs and 4 VARs
or similar. In the VAR category they would only act as VAR and
could be used on games with referees from other Federations who
       do not have VAR yet.
