It appears Peter Bankes has (deservedly, IMO) been nominated for
a white badge in 2021. No news of assistants or category changes
however!

Well indeed congratulations to Peter Bankes who I believe, on
limited viewing admittedly, has the potential to be a very fine
referee. Now let's just remind ourselves of the criteria for
receiving a FIFA badge. You have to operate in the top category
of your national league, be under a certain age and for there to
be not the full quota of FIFA referees for your country. That's
pretty much about it as I understand it. Is that right?

I think perhaps I forgot that you have to referee in the top
category for a certain spell of time. Hence Robert Jones,
another potentially very fine referee, will have to wait until
the beginning of 2022 for his FIFA badge.
Somewhere I have a notion that England are allotted 10 FIFA
places. Is that right? So how many does Bankes' inclusion now
make? Is it 9? Oliver, Taylor, Pawson, Tierney, Attwell,
Kavanagh, A Madley, Coote, Bankes. Apologies to anyone I've
forgotten.

Congratulations to Peter on his appointment to the FIFA list.
I've seen him only once live - at Burnley v Palace last season
before the lockdown - and he had a decent enough game. I wish
him well.

That's my understanding too Whistleblower, but confirmation
would be appreciated. What's also interesting is the age profile
of the current FIFA referees.
I think Taylor and Pawson at 41 are the oldest so in theory
another 6 years or so before they step down if they maintain
form and fitness. So, if 10 is the limit and Jones gets his
badge in a year or so, isn't the way blocked for other potential
promotions unless some of the current officials come off the
list?
