Why wasn't Aguero at least booked for putting his arm round the
assistant's neck?
Also why weren't Arsenal given a penalty for a head high foot by
Walker (or at least an on field review)?

Aguero crossed a line imo and I would say the same if it had

It is never advisable to be putting your hands on officials.
However, what Aguero did was at the least serious end of the
scale as there was no aggression or animosity. Nobody seemed
bothered at the time.
I would suggest that the powers-that-be have far more serious
and pressing issues to sort out. The game is descending into a
shambles and a laughing stock.

I must admit, when I saw the incident happen live, I thought it
looked bad. When I thought about why this was bad, I had to ask,
was it because the assistant was female? If the answer to that
question is yes, then this poses more questions than answers,
imo.
Would the social media outcry have been the same had this been,
say, Darren Cann? I doubt it, but that doesn't detract from
Aguero doing something he should not have done.
I'd also argue that there was not any malice/intent to his
actions, and I would finally argue that, had Sian have made the
correct call in the first place, Aguero would not have reacted
the way he did.
I'd also agree with LT. PL/PGMO would have far more pressing
issues to deal with, like trying to appease their media darlings
after the VAR shambles at Goodison.

I'm sorry I'm just very confused by both Latetackle and
flipmode's posts respectively.
One seems very on par, we'll if she hadn't have dressed like
that.....
The other it seems to be forgotten that, Sian post her hand up
and pulled his off of her, there was no jesty smile from her or
anything. She was probably a tad more bothered than you
perceived.

Aguero - shouldn't have got so close in the present
circumstances. Otherwise had it been a male AR nothing would
have been said - lots of examples of referees touching players
and vice-versa - touch is a human form of communication. If we
are to have female officials (and I'm all in favour of that)
then they have to be treated equally to males. Sian
Massey-Ellis by her handling of this situation and her
performances generally has shown herself well capable of
officiating at this level and deserves to be treated equally
with her male colleagues.
I see no one has questioned Xhaka pulling Sterling back by the
neck to stop him getting away from him and not getting a yellow
card, and coming not long after Rhodri had seen yellow for
pulling back Saka by the arm. A bit more significant than
Aguero's misdeed in my book.
Penalty claim against Walker - was a bit rash but so far as I
could see he made contact with the ball and not the man - could
have been seen as a penalty (Doubtless the sainted one would
have given it).
But why no penalty/card for the deliberate blocking of Bernardo
by Gabriel and no-one questioning it on here??

His foot was up in a dangerous area - so if no contact with
player then it must be an indirect free kick??
I haven’t seen one given like that for quite some time

If Walker didn't make contact with the other player then
presumably we'd be looking at an indirect free-kick for playing
in a dangerous manner rather than a penalty (and hence no
possibility of VAR review.)

Last week there was a discussion about how we can tell what a
referee actually saw, although I like to think if a referee is
facing play 5 yards away you sort of presume he might actually
be watching what is happening.
This week we are being told what she was 'probably' thinking.
My perception was that she was concentrating on her job and
didn't appear bothered. My evidence for that view is that, had
she thought it to be an issue, she would surely have flagged to
draw it to the attention of the referee. As for a 'jesty
smile', I don't ever recall seeing any change of facial
expression on Massey's face, jesty or otherwise. 'Summat an'
nowt, get on with the game' as us old schoolers might have said.
