I can understand why Taylor has sent off martial
But surely Lamela should have equal punishment for pushing
martial in the face first??
And what about the rolling and around afterwards- embarrassing
footballer - should have been booked for play acting

30 seconds in, the softest of penalties following ridiculous
defending from Davinson Sanchez. Taylor falls for Martial
sticking his leg out all day long. VAR can't overturn because
it's not clear and obvious, for me it's not enough....
Martial sent-off for the softest of slaps to the twerp Lamela's
face. This is very reminiscent of Son against Chelsea's Rudiger
last year - he's provoked, flicks out and is harshly sent-off.
Same official, same unfair handling of the two players involved
without a doubt. Martial & Lamela either both get the yellow
for pettiness, or both sent-off if the official's being strict.
Bailly then appears to stamp on Kane's leg, but looking at the
replay they've got this one right as he lands on the leg rather
than deliberately stamps.
Not impressed as usual, and I said last week I wouldn't bother
again with the PL due to the handball rule, VAR and our
officials....

How Lamela has never had a red card in his Spurs career is
baffling full stop. edited out - do not question the honesty &
integrity of the match officials, bmb. extremely harsh and
unfair handling of the incident.

Edited - please do not accuse players of cheating unless you are
willing to repeat that accusation in a court of law.
Why didn’t VAR intervene?

It's incidents like that when you begin to wonder if a referee
has much empathy for the game. Out of interest, did Lamela get
his YC for that tap on Martial or a later foul when he pulled
back a United player as they broke from their own half.
If the law says you can poke a fellow in the neck and it's ok
but if he happen to tap him on the face, it's a RC then that's
something else that needs looking at.
As for Lamela falling as if shot, he should have been cautioned
for that alone.
To put it another way, if Michael Oliver had dealt with that
incident in that way, I would have been very disappointed.

I agree maybe Taylor didn’t think about the 18th law of common
sense
Taylor has totally ruined this game - how someone can say he is
the best England have to offer the world - do one!
A nasty horrible foul from Shaw - yellow card! Not even
reviewed?!

Lamela should have gone, Shaw should have gone for his lunge on
Moura.

This feels like an incident where a rigid implementation of
'clear and obvious' for VAR doesn't really lead to a
'fair/balanced' outcome.
I'd probably agree that either both should have gone or both
should have got yellow but that means that in isolation red or
no red isn't clearly wrong for each player so VAR doesn't
intervene.
I'm not sure if Taylor had a full view of Lamela's part - it
could have been reviewed as a serious missed incident if not. I
don't think the VAR process would downgrade Martial's red but
perhaps on a different day Lamela would have gone too from it.
I think there were worse challenges where no red card was shown.

Spurs with a penalty against Man United. My goodness this
really is a strange old year. I believe it's the first ever
Spurs league penalty against Man United, I certainly can't
remember one before - at the 57th attempt, but does anyone know
of where this can be verified? If true it's a staggering
statistic....
United got extremely cynical and crude in that second half,
Bailly, Pogba and Shaw with very dangerous fouls. Pogba's was
debatable but still studs-up and out of control. Shaw's was a
cast-iron red card, chopped down Moura and that could have been
a season-ending injury from a deliberate hack. Bailly with
studs down Son's achilles. There's a way to lose, and that
certainly wasn't it, should have ended with 8 men for me.
Everyone agree?
An awful day for United's £500m+ starting line-up, why are their
fans blaming their board!!?? Blame the so-called top class, top
money players surely!? Investment there has been seconded only
by 2 clubs in the last 20 years!!

It wasn't actually a foul, I'd have sent him off for kicking an
opponent.
Pathetic on so many counts from Taylor.
