Martin Atkinson Man Utd vs Crystal Palace

Average performance by Atkinson imo , no complaints about the
result palace deserved it but the biggest decision was the
poorest I’ve seen in many a year step forward VAR Jon Moss to
have that penalty retaken for De Gea being the slightest margin
off his line is really poor and embarrassing

Was any part of his feet on the line? No....
I don't therefore understand what the problem is.

It was clearly stated before start of season no tolerance would
be applied for keepers at penalties. Correct decision. First of
many.n

I agree Dave26, thought Atkinson looked a bit off the pace.
Correct re. De Gea off his line but like the offsides last
season very harsh when it's less an inch!
Not sure about the penalty -Lindelof is very close to Zaha, 1
yard away, and natural movement of his arm when running back.
The handball rule is an absolute con; we are going to see so
many ridiculous handballs this season

Might be correct by law but not when he was barely off his line
, I can guarantee you that you will see plenty of incidents this
season where goalkeepers are well off their line on a penalty
kick and the save stands

I'm sorry - in what godly earth, is an arm bent at head height
"natural" ?

That's all well and good, but as we know, these things often
peter out after a few weeks.

Not in games with VAR. Remember that FIFA are effectively in
charge of VAR this season, not the Premier League / PGMOL, and
they say that any encroachment that impacts on the penalty, no
matter how minimal, must be sanctioned.

Sorry, the game is a travesty if you’re going to penalise
goalkeepers for that!
No advantage gained whatsoever and it is physically impossible
for a goalkeeper to stay on his line and dive.
They’d be as well starting two yards behind the line if this is
the precedent!!

How they have both come up with the penalty decision in the
first place is beyond comprehension......
