Austrian referee named Stulla, who was active during the 1950's
- early 1960's. I am looking for his forename. He was
(according to the match programme) one of the linesmen in the
European Cup Winners' Cup Final of 1960-61 (Rangers v
Fiorentina).

Manfred Stulla.
He was an assistant together with Dimitris Wlachojannis in that
game. Wlachojannis was born in Greece, but moved to Austria.
Wlachojannis was also assistant for Josef Stoll in the European
Champions Cup in 1964 together with Karl Kainer who refereed the
infamous 1958 game between Red Star and Manchester United.
Kainer actually kept the matchball which his son returned to
United some fifty years later.
Some useless information there.

In case anyone else is collecting English officials in Europe -
12.02.58 Dortmund v Milan Euro Cup
Arthur Ellis, Jim Cattlin and Jim Powell
Powell's 3rd Euro trip as had previously lined
France v Austria 25.03.56 (Ellis referee)
Nice v Rangers Euro play-off in Paris 28.11.56
Ellis was said to be allowed to pick his own assistants
so they were often northerners

If you want to dig deeper, look for English representation in
the Mitropa Cup, a conpetition that preceded european
tournaments as we know them.
And, to save you time, I'm fairly sure Neale Barry won't be able
to help!

The three years that Englishmen refereed the Mitropa Cup Final
(two legged) were 1934, 1935 and 1938
They were appointed by the F.A. (London)
First named team home in first leg
1934 - 1. William Walden, 2. Jimmy Jewell (Admira Vienna v
Bologna) 3-2 & 1-5 (4-7)
1935 - 1. William Walden, 2. Bert Fogg (Ferencvaros v Sparta
Prague) 2-1 & 0-3 (2-4)
1938 - 1. Bert Mee, 2. Jimmy Jewell (Slavia Prague v
Ferencvaros) 2-2 & 2-0 (4-2)

One of Kevin Howley's assistants in this match was David H.
Counesell (Blagdon, Somerset).
