Didn't realise they were doing match referees in this
competition now - some of those choices are baffling. One in
particular, who shall remain nameless, I have dealt with
on-field myself and didn't exactly cover himself in glory. I
think it just underlines how professional cricket appointments
are done in the UK...

Thanks tomp for keeping up to date with the many umpiring
appointments in this truncated season - very much appreciated!
It is poignant to mention that Jeremy Lloyds received a guard of
honour at Gloucestershire today ahead of his retirement.
Congratulations on an excellent career and good luck in a well
earned retirement!

And in a rather sad twist, Mr Lloyds' final first class match as
an umpire has been abandoned on Day 1 after a member of the
Northants squad has tested positive for Covid-19. Whilst not
with the matchday squad, he had been in contact with a number of
players, leading to authorities agreeing to abandon the match to
protect players and officials.

What a shame for both that their distinguished careers should
end in such a rotten way. Not how they would have wished sadly.
