Arthur G. Kingscott was the last man to referee two FA Cup
Finals, refereeing the 1900 Final (Bury vs. Southampton) and the
1901 Final (Tottenham Hotspur vs. Sheffield United, as well as
the replay).

This is not an appointment made by the PGMOL. This is made by
the FA referees committee

Definitely the right answer in my opinion. I'd be pretty gutted
if a got the FA Cup final appointment in a behind closed doors
campaign knowing that I'd never get it again, especially if I
thought I'd be in with a chance in future years.

It looks like there's lots of thought gone into it by the
appointing committee, which is not PGMOL.

I am surprised that if they were going for a second timer they
haven't picked Atkinson. However as Taylor has had the fixture
before perhaps that was a determining factor. Thus is going to
be the Cup Final listed with an asterisk next to it and a
footnote.

I get the logic and can understand why they have done this.
2 points though -
1. What if you are Pawson, Tierney etc who may have had it this
year and then gets injured or something happens to your career,
next year?
2. Can we read anything into Taylor going to Euro 2020 next
year? It seems that Taylor is FA's preferred referee.

Based on appointments in Europe, UEFA seem to rate Taylor higher
as well. Interesting that the FA article mentions that Taylor
and co are off out to Europe next month.
The chances of a career-ending injury to one of those due to
have the final are very slim, so I doubt that was a
consideration. In my opinion, this was the right thing to do
given the circumstance. I doubt Craig or Paul would have wanted
their one and only chance at the final to be in front of an
empty stadium.

Congrats to Anthony and his team. I hope you all have a great
day and a good game. My one concern is that this repeat
appointment does not set a precedent. In my view, the Cup Final
should be a once and once only opportunity for any referee to
aspire to, which is why I would have preferred Scott or Mason
this year, and any deviation from this would in my view spoil
the dreams of many aspiring young referees. There, that's the
negative view out of the way and I look forward to watching a
really good game in front of the TV on the 1st August.

Thank God that Mr "I know it all" Hackett was wrong and they
didn't give it to Lee Mason. Now that would have been a
disaster. Taylor would have been my second choice behind Mike
Dean.

Will Adam Nunn get a 2nd appointment at some point to get his
family's final? Or does that privelege only fall to the
referees?
Appointment wise makes sense if Anthony and whole team are
heading into Europe, keeps them fresh/sharp. Probably does imply
UEFA has Taylor over Oliver currently.
I would like to see Oliver do the play off final
