This is what fans, players and managers have never appreciated
and what certain pundits seem to have forgotten! The increased
number of TV cameras and the quality of the footage has
gradually brainwashed, for want of a better term, people into
believing that the perfect view of an incident obtained by these
camera angles and slow mo and being zoomed etc. is what the
referee themselves see from their position on the pitch despite
it being nothing like it. They expect that same referee to see
what the TV is showing them happened and shout what a perfect
position they were in etc when they don't see it the same.

If I was assessed as a referee whilst sat on my butt watching a
game on TV I'd be getting a perfect 10 every match, out on the
pitch well around an 8 on a good day!

Alan Smith wasn't convinced because it was for Tottenham, he
hates Spurs with a passion, so there's another bug-bear of mine.

as often as United do.

United would have been awarded it instantly. From the 13
penalties they've had this season, 6 are highly debatable to say
the least, let alone their cup ones! But yes we have had a
very, very poor season. Years of over-achieving in the league
has led to complacency and now we have a manager who doesn't
play the Tottenham way more often than not. A big summer
transfer window ahead for us because we must improve
dramatically. Not as much as our officials though, supposedly
the best of the best. VAR farce after farce.

Name those 6 then and don't even think of including the Spurs
one in the list! Then also add in the clear penalties which
haven't been awarded (like the trip on Pogba at the end of the
Villa game last night). When were those debatable cup ones as
well?

Probably for the same reasons they have Gary Lineker, Jamie
Redknapp, Danny Murphy and Jermaine Jenas commenting on Arsenal
games.

Just two very simple questions: what is the “Tottenham way”?
Please explain which 6 of man united’s penalties were debatable
- including cup games??
I can think of at least 3 games where decisions including
penalties weren’t given against spurs so IMHO you’re very lucky
to be even in top 8!

This isn't all of them, but here are some of the 18 awarded to
them this season -

For me:
- Wolves Coady stands his ground and Pogba falls over his leg.
- Palace Milovojevic actually makes no contact.
- Williams dives over Krul who takes his arms away.
- Fernandes actually fouls the Villa defender, not vice versa.
It's a stamp on the defender's calf but both Moss & VAR decided
to ignore this.
- Moss awarded Fernandes a penalty against Spurs when he flung
himself into the air, overruled by VAR thankfully.
I can't recall the cup ones but recall there being 1 or 2 iffy
ones. Can't wait for their next one against Southampton
tomorrow!
