M OLIVER - Aston Villa v Sheff Utd

Firstly, fantastic to see all the players supporting the black
lives matter campaign by kneeling at the kick off.
It’s very strange watching a game like this in current
circumstances, and everyone is very rusty, however surely the
technology isn’t rusty, most notably the GDS. That ball
certainly looked over the line when the keeper carried it back,
and you can clearly see the ball past the post in the keepers
hand.
I stand to be corrected but it looked over to the naked eye.
Also worth noting that there has been no replay of the goal
decision system verdict replayed on the television coverage.

Only taken 42 mins, to have first major talking point.
Ball looked over the line, just because Michael's watch didn't
vibrate, no goal. Couldn't VAR at least intervened at next
stoppage to review?

We didn't get the best camera angle though along the line, did
we? Certainly from one angle it looked in but was there a push
or forward momentum from a United player into the goalkeeper?
But can't recall whether that was before or after the ball
appeared to be over the line.

What’s VAR playing at? What’s the assistant Stuart Burt playing
at? Flag and give the goal. He has an unobstructed view. He is a
FIFA assistant. VAR can see it’s a goal. Do your job and give
the goal.

Well Well showcase round the world and technology and the Human
in the VAR has failed.
Im not cinvinced the assistant couldnt have easily seen it but I
understans why he wouldnt be brave enough to over rule the
technology.

In his defence I think Nyland's arm and shoulder would have
obscured the ball. But VAR could and probably should have
intervened.

They probably reviewed it at the time, it just wasn't mentioned.
The GLT would have been checked immediately prior to the game
though.

“The system is now working and should be effective in the second
half” from Sky Sports.
What a shambles.
