The match programme listed Don Shaw of Sandbach as the referee ;
he withdrew a couple of days before the game because of injury.

Yes, Donald got in touch with RTR a few years ago and confirmed
that because he had tweaked a muscle at Old Trafford a few days
before, he had been unable to referee the game at Bradford and
Norman Glover had taken his place. The match day programme was
not changed in time and so named Don as the referee, and I saw a
local media report that he had received some hate mail as a
result of what happened at Valley Parade which, even if he had
been in charge that day, was obviously totally unacceptable.
