I think the Latvian referee has had quite a few good games
perhaps he's been pushed for elite

Great appointments for Hategan, Taylor and Treimanis. The latter
already had a CL group stage match and continues to impress.

When it comes to International appointments there doesn't appear
( to my inexpert eye ) to be the width of a fag paper between
Oliver and Taylor...unless those with far more knowledge of
European football/refereeing can correct me.

Taylor has the more important observer of the two in Hauge.
Conversely Oliver's Spanish Derby is probably the tie of the
round.
I still maintain Oliver is higher in the pecking order to
Taylor, sometimes Taylor is prone to an erratic decision or
moment whereas I don't think Oliver is in that ilk.

As far as analogies go, this up there with the best of them for
me!
Two big games in four days for Oliver, Burt and Bennett. One
thing I've not noticed until now is the 4O is an AR. Is this
normally the case? Should there be an injury to Michael would
the senior most AAR take over and the 4O replace the AAR?

It's an interesting case because there seems to be a
disagreement between FIFA and UEFA for those 2. UEFA seems to
prefer Taylor as his appointments are more sonorous and he
already had 4 K.O. matches so far.
FIFA, on the other hand, clearly prefers Oliver. He is going to
the U20 again and seems to be considered for the 2022 WC. Of
course we shouldn't forget who is the President of the FIFA
Referee's Committee.

But it was Oliver who got the Champions League quarter-final
last year.
Do UEFA decide who will represent England at Euro 2020 or is
down to the FA to nominate? I remember the situation in 2016
where it seemed the English authorities wanted Atkinson but
Collina wanted Clattenburg (so both went! Is there a chance we
will see two referees from the same country at the Euros again?
It wouldn't surprise me although maybe
Spain/Germany/Italy/Netherlands more than England.)
I think Oliver is the better and more consistent of the two and
I think he is the most likely to go, although I can see there's
an argument that Taylor's style might be more 'European'.
