I take your point but personally I think it's fairer than ending
on Points Per Game or declaring a season 75% complete null and
void.
I think there will be some difference caused by what has
happened when we come back but I'd still expect 3 of the bottom
6 to get relegated and the top 4 to make the CL places so I'm
not sure anyone can complain that much.
ultimately if you're currently 7th in the Championship then PPG
means you're not in the play-offs and if you're currently top
then null and void means you don't go up anyway, so neither can
really complain about playing on and it being decided on the
pitch.

What would you think if another club was top of the table, say
Man City, for example?

Arsenal was down to be reffed by Jon Moss before lockdown. Do we
feel that one of the biggies will now get the game to herald the
restart, possibly Oliver or Dean?

I think travel distance may be a factor in appointing referees.
As the current regulations stand, they would not be allowed to
stay overnight either before or after the match - so would need
to travel both ways on the same day. They should not be using
public transport (train) and would not be allowed to share a car
with somebody outside their household.
I don't think you will be seeing Oliver, Taylor or Dean in
London or the south coast the rest of this season. It would be
interesting to see the geographical spread of the referees and
what are their closest clubs. That will dictate a lot of the
appointments!

So Hoops/Graham Scott for every AFCB home match left then! I'm
ok with that!
[/quote]
Yes, I have visions of Mike Dean turning up ready changed at
AFCB (? where do they stand on changing facilities?) for a
7.45pm KO, and then driving back to the North West after the
game (? no hotels open?). At least it will be light at 4am. bmb
- could you possibly put a tent up in your garden or does that
constitute an overnight stay? ;D

Maybe Grandad East will come out of retirement hehe.

In Germany more than half of games have ended in away wins and
any kind of home advantage has been removed, if not completely
reversed. Makes me wonder if some of the teams with vocal home
support like Brighton, Newcastle and Palace will suffer when
they restart.

They will undoubtedly suffer. And all the teams near the bottom
have more home games left than away games.

Brighton are apparently filling half their stadium with
cardboard cut-outs!

Thankfully we have excellent changing facilities including a
seperate changing area for female match officials which could
also be used by the referee team! We even have indoor plumbing
is Darsetshire now. :o I don't have a garden but he can have the
bed settee on the (enclosed) balcony and he would be able to
maintain proper social distancing!! Not sure George Cat &
Squirtle would be too happy with the arrangement though, they
have declared it a human free zone! ;D

Been no change in Hungary in terms of home advantage, even prior
to having some fans allowed back. We may have smaller crowds in
general but they can be very noisy!

Especially when they all stand together at a Cup Final!
