April Fool's Day

Though there's not much to laugh about at the moment, I'm sure
most of you remember when the Football League had a sense of
humour, appointing Referees and Assistants to matches with a
common theme around April 1st.
From my neck of the woods, Martin Mountain and Brian Hill ( or a
Mr Hill if they don't overlap) assisted Denis Hedges.
So, Upton's at the ready, do your best!

Hi There was time in the 1980 when Jim Ashworth ( who was the
appointments officer for the Football League DID appoint on
April Fools Day using the names that linked together. Ity
created much interest and was very interesting at the time. I
just cannot remember what year that was Does anybody know?
