Never mind the numbers, read the words.
Lots of very good points made, especially the lack of meaningful
       consultation.
Think The FA got the latin "consensus" confused with the French
       "fait accompli".

I would suggest that with 92% of clubs not contributing to the
letter, a consensus is the correct terminology. Even 51.8% is a
       consensus of opinion!
If leagues didn't consult with their clubs, and made a decision
on their behalf without consulting them, then the clubs can try
and vote out those people at their respective AGM's.
Step 2 and above have full time players, which I'm guessing is
the why they are treating them different.
Points Per Game is a totally unsatisfactory way to decide the
final 8/9 games of the season. What if a team is in a relegation
place and have played all the top teams and now have 5/6 games
left against the teams around them? Might as well convene a
Pools Panel (one for the teenagers there!) and guess the
       results.
At the time of typing, it's front page news on the BBC Sport
website, does anyone think the media would be interested if they
had any other stories to run?
This story is sitting along side their other headline stories,
one of which is that the Lancashire CCC chairman has sadly
passed away from Covid19. I think there are more important
things to be concerned with right now

Leagues and clubs were consulted and they wanted to cancel the
league and expunge results. Obviously some of those clubs that
miss out in promotion aren't happy, no doubt the same as some of
those that avoid relegation will be happy. PPG takes no
awareness of form, using an example with PPG AFC Bournemouth
would be relegated from the PL, despite the fact they have only
just dropped into the bottom 3, and are only there on -1 goal
       difference.
This is no difference to Brexit, they have gone with the
majority and some people don't like it. You can't please
       everyone ...!

Appreciate that & yeah it would be very unfair but vastly
different in terms of financial losses - the PL it's literally
10's of millions per club just per the final position let alone
for those who do get relegated. If it happens then it happens.
Personally whatever else happens in the PL I think Liverpool
deserve the title this year. They have more than earned it.
Even with the steps to null & void the lower levels it
could/will still cause some clubs to have serious financial
hardship, there's not much money floating around at those
       levels.

I happen to agree with much of what they have written. I
believe the decision to abandon the season was made in
unnecessary haste. However I found the numbers and, indeed,
identities of the signatories striking. It suggests that they
are pursuing their own self-interests rather than looking for
the best solution, which in turn suggests that they are perhaps
a vocal minority whose views should be considered, but with
       care.
I note that Stamford have subsequently asked for their name to
be added to the letter. I will leave it to you to decide
whether you are sufficiently interested in the topic to consult
the Northern Premier League South East table.

       I'm afraid you are confusing "consensus" with "slight majority";
       consensus means general agreement.
Of course PPG is not perfect and there would be anomalies and
the odd team would be hard done by ..... but nothing like as
many as the teams who would be able to claim their thoroughly
       deserved promotions through this method.
Sympathies for everyone struck down by this wretched virus and
for the families of those who don't make it. We do however have
the capacity to be corncerned, to an obviously lesser degree,
about more than one thing at the same time.

In which case why have I seen many official statements from
clubs, and even one from a league, saying they were not
       consulted?
You make a categorical statement with no evidence, other than
the word of the FA, to substantiate it.
The difference from Brexit is that there was a formal vote.
       Stay well, everyone !

Just to clarify Step 7 leagues were not consulted in any way re
this, no emails, no 'skype' meetings.
We all were told that we are automonous leagues as recently as
       10th March.
I personally dont agree with PPG, and if it is a straight choice
between that and Null and void I would go for the latter.

I do not disagree with you, I was merely highlighting what were
the headlines and how it made these clubs look. They are more
worried about a football league ending etc.
In Australia, the AFL (Aussie Rules) and NRL (rugby league)
started moaning about their leagues being suspended (and the
cost implications). They soon got short shrift from the public
though and had to change their tune.
Along with other persons/ companies being vilified on social
media for wrongdoing, and the potential boycotting of said
brands when this finally blows over, these clubs may find
themselves in the same position from casual spectators.
