This was the first year when the referees' marking season has
been moved to fall in line with the playing season. As such,
marks from 1 March 2019 to the end of the 2019/20 season were to
be taken into account. In previous seasons the marking season
ran to the end of February only. I see no reason why promotions
shouldn't happen as normal, with 12 months' marks in the ledger.
Some may be advantaged or disadvantaged by the loss of the
rmaining couple of months but surely a year of good performances
must be rewarded. After all referees, unlike players, can't
just transfer to a higher level; they have to be promoted.

That's the same as an abandoned match though, even if it is
ordered to be replayed and removed from the records any
suspensions earned in it still have to be served.

What about Hanley Town, the team they would have been taking the
place of? They were bottom of the NWCFL Premier Division by only
one point, with a game in hand and 8 games left to play. They've
played most of their fixtures against the top teams in the
division, leaving mainly teams in the bottom half of the table
still to play. How is it fair that they get relegated?

Precisely. Technically it's just the results of the fixtures
which have been expunged, obviously the matches still happened,
and any offences which occurred in those matches still happened!
Makes me laugh seeing people/clubs bleating about getting their
fine money back - wonder if the clubs would follow suit and
refund all the gate money they've had as income this season?

It's not so hence why they have probably gone down the null and
       void route.
So glad I am not the one who had to make the call, whatever
decision reached there is someone it won't be fair on.

Over 60 Non-League clubs have signed an open letter to The FA
calling for them to reconsider their decision of making the
2019-20 season null and void across Steps 3 to 7.

Just over 60 out of more than 850. Not a massive proportion is
it? A similar proportion to those still in with a shout of
       promotion in fact. Just saying.
