Presumably the system isn't ready to cope with this number of
games yet.

There are only two games where a PL team is at home without VAR
being in place. Tottenham's home on this occasion is Milton
Keynes so that is not being played on a PL ground.
Everton's game has been put back a week meaning that it clashes
with European fixtures so I would imagine that they are still
waiting to see who will be available to man the VAR booth.

AFC Bournemouth? Also a PL team & no VAR

[emoji33]You have no idea how many times I looked up and down
that list making sure I wasn't going to embarrass myself by
missing one.
I will retire to the naughty step for a while.

What worries me is that these appointments could indicate who
they have in mind as possible refs to get PL matches
occasionally and relieve pressures on the refs there.
If so the thought of the vastly overrated Robinson and Simpson
(after his complete shambles in the previous round at Notts
Forest) fills me with horror. Jones, Bankes and England I can
live with, Langford and Bond I am not so sure.

I'm sure he will do just fine. It's a ground he is well
acquainted with and one where he is well liked. He would always
be sent to DC after an injury or if he'd had a nightmare of a
game back in our FL days. I think because it's a ground he can
arrive relaxed pre-match at knowing the home crowd are not
against him from the get go. Being a localish lad he's refereed
us many times and been there through the bad & good times, he
was the referee the night we confirmed promotion to the PL,
which will be remembered by our fans! If he has been having a
tough time lately then the best place for him is Dean Court,
it's the ground where he regains any confidence & self belief
back & 99% time has a decent game. I look forward to welcoming
him back.

Are you talking about Hooper or Kevin Friend, bmb?🤔

Hooper! Friend is hated in Bournemouth, Hooper on the other hand
is well liked and respected.

I see Oliver has got two 4O appointments involving all PL teams:
at Wolves to Stuart Attwell and Liverpool to Kevin Friend.
Is he nursing a slight injury do we know or is it just playing
'safe' in case the referee gets injured.

The midweek appointment is after Saturday's appointments will
have been announced.
