Paul Tierney - Liverpool v Bournemouth

An absolutely shocking start from Paul Tierney and Michael
Oliver. Just how they haven’t decided that Joe Gomez is fouled
in the build up to the Bournemouth goal is beyond comprehension.
       Appalling

I think it is, in this instance, up to the onfield referee. If
Tierney says "seen the contact and am happy with it" I cannot
see how Oliver over turns it.
If he says "badly placed, not sure" then there is the option to
       give it.
For what its worth, I thought it was a foul.

       Depends which angle you view!
Not a foul from this angle at all.

       Looks stonewalled from this angle

Looks a clear foul from both angles to me! There is an arm
pushing at Gomez, which takes him off balance when he is in
       complete control.

I don’t think you can blame Tierney. His angle wouldn’t have
been good. However, both the near side assistant and VAR
should’ve seen it. Guess Paddy Power was correct.

Makes up for getting badly sawn off at Burnley a couple of weeks
       back.
       Twice.

Thought the Bournemouth goal should have been disallowed.
However Mr Tierney was lenient not showing a YC to Mane for his
       dive.

I agree with you entirely. And what was Michael Oliver doing not
drawing Tierney's attention to an obvious error? Would it have
had anything to do with the fact (I think) that this was a
potential red card offence? I hope not. In my view, Michael did
not fulfil his role properly in this instance.

I don't see how it could be regarded as a potential red card
       offence.
I think it was a foul but I can also see RCG's point about at
what stage it becomes re-refereeing. It seems the authorities
want the clear errors eliminated without becoming too forensic
with 'TV fouls', so perhaps it is not that surprising that some
officials are getting the balance worng.
